Hi guys, I finally talked my dad into buying a new set of shocks for it taco, its a 2002 TRD that "floats" down the road, I thought it came with real Bilsteins but the stock TRD shocks are a joke, in my opinion. The truck has 45,000 mainly highway miles on it. Anyway he bought a real set of Bilstiens and just ordered a set of Revos, I am going to install his shocks for him and have never turned a wrench on a taco and cannot find a book on it anywhere. What am I up against on the front shocks, I have a set of spring compressors but want to make sure I have everything I will need when I get started. I with the stock Bilstiens had a lifetime warranty 45,000 miles is not enough to make them bounce and float I don’t think anyway! Please let me know I am going to replace the rears this afternoon and do the fronts an evening this week once I figure out what I need to do! Thanks again, Matt

 

Trust me, the front's will NOT be fun at all. You'll need to remove the three top nuts (NOT the center one), and the bottom shock bolt. Then you'll need to compress the coils. From there, you'll have to remove the top plate by using vise-grips and an adjustable wrench to get the top nut off. Replace in reverse order.

The rears are EASY. Bolt out, bolt in.

The hardest part of the whole thing was compressing the springs and getting the new rear shocks in (bushings were a bit stiff).
