Unhappy 2002 4Runner Keyless Remote issue

Hello,
Before I begin, I would like to say that I've gone through EVERY SINGLE POST that is related to this topic and have not been successfull in finding a solution.

I just recently purchased a 2002 4Runner SR5. It did not come with the keyless remote so I had to purchase a replacement 3 button remote. For some reason I can't get it to program to my 4Runner. I've gone through the steps to verify that I have a keyless system. I've gone through all programming steps for both types of systems (factory and port). From all my research I am being led to believe that I have the port RS3200 system because I have the "Toyota Security" plate with the LED (no button) and what appears to be the glass break mic to the left of my steering wheel. When I reach the step that I click the remote's lock and unlock buttons together then click just the lock, the system never indicates that it is receiving any input by cycling the power locks to confirm my success or failure as per the instructions on both system types. I do not have an "immobilizer" light in my dash next to the passenger seat belt light. There is an empty connection behind the trim next to the seat belt light but I can't find any harness or connector to fill it. Does the "Toyota Security" plate replace the dash immobilizer light? Also, when I bought the vehicle, I was given a basic metal copied key. It doesn't have a transponder in it like I've been reading that most have. Could this have been bypassed some how?

Quick Recap:
  1. Purchased 3 button remote (lock/unlock/panic); circuit board has 4 buttons for some reason.
  2. Tried all possible programming instructions to no avail.
  3. I believe I have the RS3200 system."Toyota Security" place with GB mic next to steering wheel.
  4. No Immobilizer light in center dash; empty receptical behind dash trim though.
  5. No transponder on key. Using basic key copy.
Thank you in advance for any help that is provided.

The remote i have for my 02 sport has 3 buttons on the front and one on the rear (lock, unlock, rear window roll down and panic on the back) You could possibly have the wrong remote.

The main thing to try to verify is the FCC ID number molded into the back casing . That is one way to tell if you have the proper remote.

Pikeman- What casing do I look at for the FCC ID? I don't have any remotes to compare it with since I never got a remote with my 4R.

The website I got my replacement from claimed that I had the VIP RS3200 since I had the "Toyota Security" plate near my steering wheel. I am beginning to suspect that I don't have the VIP RS3200 and I have ordered the regular 4 button remote to try. Also, all the programming instructions say that I should hear a chirp but I don't ever get a chirp.

Thanks again to all who read and can help.
