Over 15k for a 2000 Tacoma? Is that folded into the price of a trade vehicle or are they cutting you a check? What did you pay the scammin' widow for it? I have a 2000 4Runner with none of that rust nonsense in nice shape and I would bet it's not worth over $6500. But I'm glad you got some money for your trouble. What are you going to replace it with?

Friggin ridiculous that they won't do anything for our runners with similar frame rot.

Toyota was willing to work with me. I sold my 98 for parts back before the buyback.

Once the buyback was announced I was so upset I didn't revisit the issue for 2 years. But eventually I got in touch with toyota and they said if I provided a notorized bill of sale, proof of frame rot and proof of former ownership they would pay me the difference between the sale price of the vehicle and the current KBB trade in value. A far cry from buyback money but the $1,110 they sent me helped and showed there commitment even to former owners.

I paid $7900 for it a year ago. And at the time I inspected the frame myself - as well as an independent shop. I was shocked at how fast it went - and obviously from the inside out.

They cut me a check. Yeah I was shocked at the price also. I had checked KBB and guessed between $12k and $14k at the most. To be honest I would have been happy to just get my $7900 back.

I'm thinking of a 2nd-gen this time. Kinda like to get an access cab with a 2.7l-5speed. Still looking...

Go grab yourself a 4 banger '84-88 model. I just picked up an '87 4x4 long bed that had been sitting in a carport on an island - in the ocean - for 20 years. The frame is rock solid perfect. The mounts all look brand new.

These trucks were built to last. You don't want a 3vze...

And with all that money, you could throw on some new paint/decals/wheels/tires etc and have a brand new looking rig that will last forever. With about 10 grand left in the bank
