2000 4Runner slight hesitation when accelerating from stop
Hi everyone, I'm having a handful of minor issues with my 2000 4Runner that I'll be posting in separate threads. I hate to come in asking for so much help on my very first post, but I'm stuck. My 4Runner is a 2000 limited model with 145k miles and ever since we've owned it, it's had an intermittent slight hesitation when accelerating from stop. If I drive around the neighborhood, it probably happens at 15-30% of the stop signs. Doesn't seem to be temperature dependent. It seems to happen more if I step on the gas medium-hard, and happens less if I give it gas annoyingly slow. It's about a half second (or less) hesitation in the middle of the RPM increase. You feel the rpms come up just slightly, then they drop for a beat, then normal acceleration. The whole event is very smooth.
I've replaced the MAF and TPS within the last 2 years when I got engine lights for those, but neither seemed to affect this issue.
I don't know if it's related, but when driving and coasting, I get an intermittent 'bump' in the drivetrain right as the RPMs come up when accelerating. Almost like there's a delay between the pressing of the pedal and the RPMs coming up, and they come up all at once. This also doesn't happen every time, but seems to happen more often than the hesitation when accelerating from stop issue.
Thanks for any advice yall have!

Try changing the spark plugs i got ngk dual tips I believe and my old one were single tip and beat down also they were all hand tight, after I did that my 324k runner stopped running like dookie at stop lights it would idle very low and slow also on hot starts it would run poorly would have to rev it high to get back to normal. If it still runs poorly try to adjust the throttle cable on the throttle body and if that doesn’t change try changing spark plug wires. If the above don’t work change air filter I use the k&n one and you can feel the difference more responsive on the throttle accelerates faster. If those don’t work then your file pump could be faulty or the filter is clogged ect
