2.7 idle issue. Please help!

Need some more advice! My 2002 Tacoma 2.7 out of no where started acting up. Tried to crank the truck last night and it wouldn't start. All it would do is turn over. I gave it a little gas and it would start but as soon as I took my foot off the gas, it died. So this morning it did the same thing. Got it crunk long enough to drive it from the barn to the house. Soon as I let off the gas it died. I then tried to recrank it then it would not start at all. Got out removed gas cap and it made a big WHOOSH. Got back in the truck and it will crank again if you give it gas, except now it will stay running on it own just low rpms. That leads me to think it's fuel related and not electrical sensors. What do y'all think?

Isn't that called vapor locking and if I remember right it has to do with your fuel pump.

High-pressure return-style EFI fuel systems like these trucks have don't get vapor lock. Vapor lock died with carburetors.

How does it run when you give it throttle? Does it run fairly normally except for stalling at idle?

It sounds like your idle control valve could be sticking.

Yes it runs great when I'm giving it throttle. It's just when I let off. But it just magically quit doing it after I took it down the road and ran it, hasn't done it sence. I do have an egr valve code. Could that have stuck open and made it run crappy?

Yeah, that could probably cause it too.

Question

You have the OBII system that points you in the correct direction but you chose to not look into the system it points you towards
