1999+ alternator in 1997 4Runner?

Hello everyone. The alternator on my 1997 4Runner V6 is bad and I need a new one. I heard that the 1999-2002 4Runners had an alternator with slightly higher output than the 1996-1998 4Runners...is this true? I added fog lights and other accessories to my truck and I am wondering if the 1999-2002 alternator is compatible with my 1997 4Runner. Upon searching, the threads I found were only about HO alternators...sorry if this has been posted.

The 97 is a 70 amp, and the 99 is an 80 amp.

They should plug in fine and they will mount up no problem, since all the 5VZ engines use the same alternator mounts.

After frying my alternator during my 3.4 swap (don't ask), I found that Bosch makes one that fits nicely and puts out 85 amps.

Can't recall the model number, though.
