1998 4runner CEL PO753 ????

Hey guys I have done a lot of searching on here and Has been greatly helpful. Just hoping to get some guidance on my problem.

Driving my 1998 4Runner the other day when the CEL came on. Stopped at NAPA and the code was PO753 ( Shift Solenoid A Electrical problem) Went through the threads and found some info.

Dropped the transmission pan. looked at all three solenoids. Tried cleaning them up Put them back and buttoned everything up. New fluid. Same problem. 2 solenoids have 8C25 stamped on them. One tested at 18 ohms. other at 6 Ohms. the third was a 8C26 and tested at 12 Ohms. My question is this. The truck seems to have resistance in 1st gear. Going L to 2 to D drives great no problems.

If I replace the bad solenoid will this fix the problem. I'm pretty sure it's bad being at 6 ohms. But would that make the truck drive like it is? and if so Why is it ok in L gear.

with the Solenoid being $200 should I just look into a new tranny??

Thank's for reading this and hopefully someone out there can lead me in the right direction.

Just got this pop up yesterday. Keeping an eye out but i think its related to my milkshske incident about 1700 miles ago.

$200 seems high. I swear i found a solenoid for $92 the other week.

I did find one through. Napa for $86.00. It drove fine today. FYI I bought this a little over a month ago and I'm wondering if the previous owner wasn't being completely honest with the history of the truck when I bought it.

Hard to say about the history but doubt you need to worry. There are plenty of accounts on here with well looked after vehicles that have had a p0753 code.

Seems to be driving better. And when I changed the tranny fluid it was not the best looking. that's why I am conserved the previous owner wasn't telling me something. We will drive it till it stops and go from there.
