I wish I could get toyota to refresh everyones warrantys lol I dont mind working on it. Just trying to see if I can possably get toyota to help me a lil in this situation. I would be happy with a good bottom end and a gasket kit. lol $350 for the gasket kit. thats the highest price gasket set i have ever seen. except for a desiel engines. I seen those up to $1200 for new sleeves and everything. which i can get the set from toyota for $300. but thats still crazy. u can get the 22re fellpro gasket set for $25. thats a huge diffrence. auto zone wants $450 for the fellpro gasket set for the 3.4. of course i asked them if they was crazy. i was like ummmmm dude u can get OEM set for $350. what kinda stuff are u smoking. lol he even said that was the highest price gasket set he had ever seen. but yea i understand working on cars. i bought a dodge ram 1500 like 4 months ago. with a slipping transmission, and a bad knock. i replaced the motor and had the trans. rebuilt. working on it doesnt bother me. i just know for a fact the bolt in this motor has been broke for a while and the motor looks new. i am seeing what toyota mite do about it. and what process they go about it. i atleast want them to take the time to look at the enigine.

I can't tell anything from those pictures and I'm an engineer who does failure analysis for a living. I'd need to look at it under a microscope or even a scanning electron microscope to see any flaws and the origin of the crack.

I don't think you have a snow balls chance of getting toyota to cover it regardless of whether or not it's defective. But anyway, if in that 0.00001% chance that toyota does want to look at it, protect the fracture surfaces and don't let anything touch them. Don't even try to trial fit the broken pieces together.

But again, start saving up for a new engine.

Look at the 22re, at around 130xxx something with the timing chain almost always breaks. Toyota didn't recall that.
