1996 SR5 4Runner No Keyless Entry

Is it possible that my 1996 SR5 never had a keyless entry?

When I bought this 2 weeks ago it had an after market alarm in it
but no remotes. I removed the after market alarm system and all
things work on the vehicle. I was looking for a security light so I could
maybe try the factory keyless entry system. I do not find a security light in
the dash as it was on my 1997 and 1999 4runner.

There is a red light on top of the steering column that blinked with the old
after market system. I looked at the ECU under the driver side kick panel and'
could find no programming button on the ECU.

I am beginning to think this 4runner came without keyless entry.

Thanks in advance for the info.

In '96, keyless only came together with the add-on RS300 alarm system installed at the port or at the dealer. There was no factory alarm or keyless entry. So if you didn't have the RS3000 alarm, you didn't have keyless either.
