from 16's to 15's?

i once heard that the reason why 2wd 4 runners(97 and up) have 15" rims and 4wd 4runners have 16" rims is because the 2wd 4 runners have smaller disc brakes....is this in fact true? I'm planning to buy American Racing rims for my 4 runner(4wd) but instead of 16's I want to run 15's...can I in fact do this?

if its a limited theres no chance. look at your door sticker to see what size tires came on it stock. if the stock size is a 15 you will be ok. if it is 265/70r16 it won't work.

i believe calipers would be your number 1 issue, however i wouldn't want to drop to a 15", somebody else needs to chime in on this one

Do a search...there are a hundred threads with the answer. I've answered it in detail at least twice...

I always answer this question in the same fashion...

Just get under your truck and check!!

Yes, it is the calipers that will be the limiting factor. Turn your wheels out, get under there, and measure to see the clearance.
