Cebby, good luck. That is the iron block V8, so expect to beef up your front end suspension as it weighs a ton compared to the v6. Also it is 90 degree block V8, so make provisions to trim out that inner fenders and make some space for the hood. Compared to the 3.0 V6 the 4.7 V8 is a monster in terms of size, also power

The 1UZFE is the Lexus all alloy (albeit only 4.0L) version and is the same physical size as the 2UZFE. No trimming seems to be required.

If needed, I will consider beefier t-bars.

Anyone have an idea how heavy the 3.0 is?

The 4.7 is an iron block so it will be heavier than the 4.0. On the 4R the V8 weighs like 200lb more than the all AL. V6.

And I think it is bigger physically than the 4.0 look at intake manifold, etc

Is the 3.0 iron or aluminum? I guess I never really found out...

The "thing" that says V8 4.7 is (I think) just a cover. I'll be stipping off anything that can come off and not affect operation. Extra weight I can likely live with.

I'm considering mounting my primary battery out back also, although not sure yet...but the gas tank is definitely going back there at some point. Should help displace some of that weight up front.

I guess my winch bumper will need to be aluminum.

The 3.0 is iron.

I know there was another thread about it titled specifically for the 3.0, but I couldn't find it.

Hey Cebby,

Good find on that engine - killer price. Hartselle is on the SE side of Birmingham. Madison is about 100+ miles away. Check to see if Old Dominion has a Pittsburg dock. They have one in Birmingham and will be only about 30 miles from this guy. They have decent prices and if he drops it off at the dock and you pick it up at your dock, then you'll save a ton of cash on shipping.

Thanks Andy. On a map, Madison looks closer than Birmingham. Forwardair has a Birmingham terminal also. I'll need to check on the Old Dominion line. I'm not sure I've seen their trucks around here.

I just looked up "Hartselle". I had it confused with "Harpersville". You're right. Madison is closer. Decatur has a bunch of manufacturing and production facilities, so they probally have a lot of freight companies coming through there. Might even have a distribution center that's closer than Madison.

If only I had $1000! That is one awesome deal. Yeah, Hartselle is about 20 miles south of my house in Madison. Madison is actually about 20 minutes from Tennessee. If you want me to go pick it up, hold it for you and drool all over it, I would be happy to do so. Awesome score Cebby.

Not that it matters now, but I had a 70/30 mix. The leak is clearly between the block and the head on the driver side. It appears the HG let go at the back of the engine on that side. There is a big coolant port that runs through that area.

How about some drama....

Here's the email I got from the seller tonight:

Mike,

I have a slight problem. I was selling this item for a friend of mine. I called him last night after the auction closed to let him know that it sold, and he said, "oh, I forgot to tell you, I already sold it." I would understand if you gave me negative feedback, but it was not my fault. I got on him some, but what can I really do.

I am sorry Mike.

WTF is with people?

Here's my response:

I suggest you get your buddy to reconsider. This smells more like someone got a better offer than anything else - or had sellers remorse.

We’ll start with negative feedback. That will drop you down to 75%. I will then check daily for this motor to show up again. If it does, whether you list it or not - I will get eBay to ban you permanently through your IP address. If your buddy decides to list it, I’ll get him banned too. I hate to be such a ass about this, but I need this motor to get my vehicle back on the road – and I won it in complete accordance with eBay’s rules and regs.

I look forward to your response.

-Mike
Man I hate being a whiney tool about this, but I want my damn motor...
