I'm looking for a 2nd set of tires...ones more for the street. I'd like to keep the MTR's on some rock crawlers and save my aluminium rims for the highways. These will probably be 265/70's as well, possibly 75's. My other goal is to find a decent tire for $100 or less each.
After looking on tire rack, it seems like my better choices would be the Yokohama Geolandar A/T or the Bridgestone Dueler A/T (non-revo).
Opinions, mainly on the Yokohamas? And don't say search, I've started that already, but like the title says, there are a million tire posts to sift through. Plus, I have a headache and my eyes hurt.

Personally I would never have a vehicle with Bridgestone/Firestone tires after the Ford Explorer fiasco several years ago. I just thought they handled the whole thing poorly with the media. I have always had Goodyear tires on my vehicles and I have never gotten less than 68,000 miles on any set that I have purchased. (And I live in a town that has a BF Goodrich/Michelin/Uniroyal plant in it!!) You can't beat that kind of tire life, so I am voting other.
I kept my street tires on the 15" rims when I got my new 16" rims and 285/75s but the 15" would look look absolutely STUPID on my rig now that it is lifted if I wanted to use them as street tires. Next to my new tires/rims they look like baby tires.

I would vote for the duelers also. Plus Costco carries them. I just got some earlier this summer and no one else could even come close to their price. I got 265/75s for $110 a tire installed, lifetime flat repair, balance, rotation, yada, yada, yada.
I've heard that the geolanders wear out pretty fast.

I ran Yokohama's passenger tires but I haven't tried any of their LT tires.
I was a salesman at a Firesone dealer, and also put Dueler AT's on my bro-in law's Bronco and Dueler M/T's on my old Ranger. I know they are good quality. Whenever a customer came in requesting Firestones, I always suggested Bridgestone, because they were stronger, and higher in quality.
So My answer should have been. Yokohama's are good tires. But with my experience and knowledge with Bridgestone tires, I would go for the Dueler's.

I'd go with the AT Deuler Revos, which is what I have on my spare set. BTW, I just threw my stock rims/Revos back on my vehicle last night, since I'm getting ready for a trip up into Alaska. After driving on the MT's for about two months, I was amazed at the difference. My 4Runner felt like a racecar! Definitely glad I installed the tranny cooler...
Back on topic, the Revos have great wet traction, and are very quiet as well.

Revos are a tough call...they sound impressive, but I definitely won't get them for under $100 a tire...which is what I'm trying to stick to, if at all possible. After all, I don't want to end up with junk.

You have to remember, the tires are the ONLY thing touching the ground on your truck.
You can have the worlds safest car with crap tires and it won't do you any good, whereas a OK car with great tires will get you out of hairy situations.

Of the 2, I'd go for the Bridgestone, but there's probably 2 others worth considering, Michelin LTX AT, and Dunlop Radial Rover RV.
I have an older set of the Dunlops on my truck now and I'm suprised how well the stick to the road, but this is also coming from the Pirelli Scorpion Zeros (sport truck tire).
My brother has the Michelin's on his truck and loves them. Great road and snow traction, and good off road traction too.

Forgot to mention, Tirerack's "reader reviews" are a good comparison point, but you may want to look through and read the comments from people with similar vehicles.
I think the Revo's rate the best from customer feedback, and sometimes you can do some price matching woth local tire dealers so you can get the warrenty, etc.

I went with the A/T's. I'm still waiting for them to get here. The reviews on them were all fantastic and the ratings the highest.
I had a set of Geolander A/T on my previous Surf and they were pretty good tires. Lots of people run them here in Japan. But compared to the Revo, the Revo is better base on information only at this point.

Well its not because I don't like the MTR's that's for sure. But if/when we move out of cali, we'll most likely be driving, and I'm not crazy about making the trip on MTR's. That, and I'd just like to have a set of street tires and wheeling tires/rims.

I'm currently doing the same thing. It just feels like you're really making the tranny work hard turning those bigger tires, so having the second set is nice, especially with the current gas prices!!! If I had a garage, I'd probably switch them out more often between the AT's and MT's. As it is, I have to store them on my apt. balcony, which definitely makes me the redneck of my Seattle apt. complex!
