I don't think it will restore your plastic, but it will prevent the rest from looking bad. It is designed to protect boats and RVs that sit outside all year.

 

Sounds like you got wax on it or such. Hit it with some Mothers Back to Black:




I would try that first, also there is plastic trim UV restorer at some auto stores, I do not know the same of it and that would work also. Try the Mothers first.
