Question '03 Audio

I just got a 2003 Sport Edition. I really wanted the JBL synthesis system but opted for the plain old 3-in-1 system. Anyone know the details of this system? How about the standard speakers?
Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
Steve

Hello,

I have the upgraded system w/navi and the system is not worth the money. All you can really hear is the front two speakers.

Toyota missed the spot with this one.

Steve:

If you want premium audio, you're better off gettin an aftermarket setup. The Toyota Stock JBL system just doesn't cut it much.

One member here "impulsebrklyn" has redone his audio (head unit/speakers). You can visit his website that will have all the info you need on how to upgrade your stock radio!

OK just for the record, I really like the JBL system. Norah Jones sounds incredible on it- all my jazz, electronic and blues sounds great on it.

Since you got the 3-1, it would cost more to install a JBL/toyota system than get a aftermarket system like the others say.

I've heard that the sound quality is very inconsistent from one JBL unit to the next -- was a common complaint early in the model year.

I think Good Times is right -- aftermarket will give you better sound quality for less money. You can also check eBay to see if anyone is selling their JBL system.

Sssup fellow 6Runners!
I got one of them cheap radios made by Fujitsu-Ten, 3 in 1.
Speakers I had to pull out and replace with 4 speakers made by MB Quart.
Front is 6x9 and rear be 6.5", original ones were made of paper and molded right into the mounting brackets, very cheap stuff.

The 3-1 w/NAV isn't the greatest sounding, but it isn't the worst either. But the NAV system, no one can touch....yet. I have been in several cars with a variety of NAV systems, and Toyota/Lexus hands down has the best. Well I think it is Denso (?) who actually makes it.

But that is my 2 cents worth.
