02 sensor not staying in connector

Hi-

The front 02 sensor on my 95.5 Tacoma will not stay in the pigtail connector. A couple of different mechanics have tried, but there is some type of harden glue blocking it from clicking in. The material cannot be cleaned or chipped off. There is a tie on there now, but the CEL came on again today, so it only holds for a few days before it rattles off again.

My mechanic thought he could just clip and rewire a new Toyota pigtail in, but the dealer only sells the whole wiring harness for $150.

My questions:

1. Can anybody come up with any more options?

2. . Does anyone know how much time it will take to rewire a new harness so I have some idea of what I'm looking at for labor if I have to go this route?

Zip tie? Safety-Wire?

Cut off the old plug and get a plug from a junkyard and splice it on. Maybe 15-20 minutes? Its only 4 wires inside.

zip tie on it, not holding. This truck is pretty bouncy because I added a leaf to new springs.

I'm thinking that the pigtail has to be a Toyota part so I have an email out to a junk Toyota dealer on this site. Anyone know of others I can contact?

My mechanic is going to try and trim off the part with the glue and see if this works. It's probably not glue but melt from when the head gasket blew and incinerated the sensor!

cut the wire off on both ends

and slide on four heat shrink tubes,
solder the buggers together, heat shrink the 4 wires, tie wrap all 4 together, then apply sillycone to teh ends of the shrink wrap bundle.

done done done and done.

A little spot of JB weld? That stuff loves plastic parts like that. Taking it off would be another story though....

X2 on that idea. If you need to replace the sensor later just repeat the process.
