00 Tacoma 4x4 Vacuum line routing *** pic added ***
Hello all,
Longtime lurker, first time poster. I just had to pull my head due to burnt valves from the valves never being adjusted. Everything went back together fine and I got the truck to fire up on the first try. I went to use 4wd yesterday and the light would not come on. Upon further reading I see the 4wd actuator is vacuum operated and when I traced the lines from the differential to the two electric switches on the drivers side fender well, I could see that the vacuum line coming off is not attached to anything and cannot for the life of me see anywhere it may attach.
Truck is a 2000 Tacoma SR5 TRD extended cab with a 2.7, 5 speed and the J style manual transfercase shifter. Thanks for any help you can provide.
I figured it out earlier today. I attached the line off the front of the fuel rail to the front of the manifold instead if the intake box, and the 4x4 vacuum line was not connected. Shown is the proper routing.
I had this attached to the front of the manifold. Where the 4x4 vacuum goes...
It had 123k when I bought and it had a rough idle then and pulled the head at 133k when something was obviously wrong. Didn't know adjusting valves was a thing on these trucks until digging into the forums and the engine codes more.
