Yota4runner86's 1986 4runner build up V2
Well i gave up on my original build up post, as its been years since ive been on, so i thought id start another. Same runner, but a lot of changes, parts broken, parts fixed, and then re-broken.
Ill start from the begining, Started with a 86 4runner, drove it all through high school, blew 1 22re due to a busted piston. Threw together some old 22re engines to get me by for a while, well a while ended up being 3 years. Honestly surprised it lasted that long.
Fast foward 2 years. After many wheeling trips finally broke a idler arm.. said to heck with IFS and jumped off the deep end.

Up in the air finish welding everything in. Also went with the IFS wheel hub turned down and the Tacoma slip on rotors. Rotors are from a 1999 tacoma prerunner, longer wheel studs are from a AWD toyota matrix if i remember correctly.

Springs are a combination of some worn out 3.5" lift springs for a factory solid axle truck, that i pulled the 2nd and 3rd leaf out and put in the rear, and added some 1966 mustang long leafs and 1979 camaro long leafs to build a firm, yet flexible and suprisingly great ride quality leaf pack that i could never duplicate ever agaim. Spring perch on axle is drilled to move axle foward 1" if i remember correctly.

Thats about how she sat for 6 months or so. Daily driven. Changed up the front bumper, added a winch, and one snowy night the cobbled together 22re blew a head gasket. Decided to go ahead and do a full rebuild. All LC rotating assembly, LC cam and rockers, self port/ polished head, also deck to 9.2/1 comp ratio.

Dont have any pictures, but since the engine build, ive moved from north GA to mooresville NC, for college, ofcoure brought the toyota. Limited space to work in the parking lot, but i have managed to get away with installing front and rear Lockrite lockers, not ideal, but i wanted lockers for URE and gulches, as ive heard there pretty gnarly. So i dont want to miss on the fun. But i don't want to spring for ARB'S or elockers right now. Here is a recent URE pic though.

Its a little late in thr season to be building half doors, but ive never been known to do stuff in order anyways. Picked up these 4 doors for 30$. There not worth saving, so i wont feel bad about making half doors from them. Also picked up a spare w56 and transfer case. Next will be dual cases!
The one with glass was worth 30$ to me!
Also here is my way of storing the hard top in my apartment complex. This is my 84K30. Makes great storage when im not driving it!
