Last year had a new engine installed. I was told it was from Toyota. Finding out on reddit that Toyota doesn't make these engines and has someone else makes them. Curious who that is and if they're any good. Surely Toyota wouldn't use someone that wasn't up to their standard?

Tower bridge auto. I have to take it back cause there was a leak where the transmission and engine meet on the bottom side. I noticed it was losing oil and even saw where it was leaking but it's so small I couldn't tell if it was from the transmission or engine. I wasn't familiar with what manual transmission fluid looks like and I was told it would to have new gaskets and would not leak. I kinda forgot about it and last oil change put full synthetic and now I think it's leaky more or it's just getting worse I'm general. I know your not supposed to use synthetic with older vehicles but I figure since it's brand new there isn't sluge built up and can handle it.
There's also this rattle noise that sound like it's coming from under the header but ahead of the cat. The mechanic is saying it's due to a bad cat but I don't have a check engine light but I do know the cat is on its way out from last smog done. It's been really stressful and I know for sure it leaks and it feels loose in the gap I see where it's leaking so I think it's just a bad install. But idk nobody's been able to really explain how it can be a clogged cat or something else.
The head on the motor says Toyota and it ticks like a 22re and it runs really great. I only have the problem with the leak and that rattle sound but it goes away when I give it more gas and comes back when cruising in lower speeds. Not really any performance issue though. And it's not the heat shield touching anything, when I hold it it still makes the same noise. He hasn't checked it yet but thinks it's the cat. I really wanna see what he says when I take it too him but something tells me to get a second opinion.
