TLRSKUNK's 1991 4Runner

Well this is my 2nd 4runner which is a 91. My first 4Runner was an 89 and due to my wife (now Ex Wife) I had to get rid of it. By the time I got rid of the 89 it had ball joint spacers in the front, 2" blocks in the rear and 35's. I had many plans for it, but at that time the wife and kids made my plans a dream and not a reality. I was born and raised in OK and used to wheel with the 89, but the wife's family lived in MN so we moved. MN is not the state to wheel in and it is pretty much impossible.
Well this is where the story for my new 91 truck starts...
I moved back to Oklahoma after the divorce was finalized in December 2010. In mid-February I traded my lowered 2wd Dodge Ram for this 91' 4runner. Straight across.
It is a SAS swapped 1991 3.0 a/t SR5 4Runner. It was hobbled together so i tore it down and started fixing the multiple screw ups. It now has a trail gear hi steer kit, matching gears (mis-matched and not hooked up before), I redid the brakes (old owner added Tranny fluid to the system) and I rebuilt the entire front end. I figured if it had to be torn apart might as well fix it the right way. I also welded trail gear shock hoops on the front and am still working on shocks for the rear, which should be done today. Also am clearance-ing my Front Drive shaft so it fits.
I have bumpers to be picked up in Albuquerque, NM on the 16th or 17th of April for it so as of now it is running stock front bumper and no rear.
Still on my list to do this week are Bumpstops, rear shocks, cut rear fenders and remove some rust. The rear will be welded up in the next couple of weeks.

Well onto my pics.
Old truck. I miss the removable top.

New trucklots of pics)
When i got it:

First time at the gas station near my house:

First time on some rocks near my house. no shocks and my track bar was not connected properly in the back.

Blacked out Taillights(My brother had the paint and i was bored). Box in the back is my Long tube headers.:

Weld shock hoops on at work and Did a Fork lift flex test:
Front view is bottomed out on the shock on RF.

Brother next to truck for height comparison:

With out him...

I will add pics of the shock mounts for the front and the rear when they are finished up.

Yes i can. But the Dodge had sentimental Value. My dad bought it brand new back in 1996 so I was sad to see it go. and being lowered it was great for hauling my motorcycles to and from MN or the track.

No lockers yet. Rear will get Lincoln locked after this weekend. I am going to do a shakedown run unlocked then lock and retry the same area.

Need to add bumpstops and lockers and i should be good for a while.picking up bumpers this weekend and will probably make a drive shaft for the front that is an inch and a half longer than the one that is on there currently. I mis measured by about that.

Driveshaft pics:

even at full droop my angle looks pretty good.
close up of drive shaft. and yes the slip part is only about an inch onto the splines and has pulled past the seal

My rear end is completely torn apart and it only took me 2 hours.
This is immediately after work(I was still punched in)

Left work at 430 went to dinner at 6 and this is where I stopped tearing it apart.

Then went home on Lunch Thursday and did this:

Rear end is apart to be welded up. Truck will be running and driving on Saturday night.

How does the rear flex compared to the front since it is still the factory coil setup.

What coils do you have in the rear?

Let me know! Thanks

I'm not sure what coils I have since they were on there when i got it. it seems to flex pretty good but it twists the ale back as it goes up and pulls the side going down forward. I dislike this set-up because of this and I am going to F150 springs here pretty quick.

The main reason my rear is lifted close to same as the front is there are some 4 inch section of pipe welded to the top of my axle under the spring perch.
