Anyway, where'd you score the guard?(PS> I don't think the light guards look bad at all....especially once you get a lift, etc. I just don't like the ones with the lil wire lines through them to protect the headlights....LAME, lol. These look pretty good to me) Either way, however you like it.

The rack, just a thought... Maybe space the front and rear more and drill out some holes in the center for some shorter spacers, just to keep any weight from being unequally distributed. Can't see enough from that pic, so maybe it's so already.

PS> Saw another one today, fully yellow, top and all... all black trim...thing was SICK! 35's, Buick 3800 V6, EVERY MOD KNOWN TO MAN, lol. I know you said you're going with black...just gotta say, seen both, black and yellow top....liked the yellow better. Either way it'll look nice.
Yes, you are right i am keeping her I got the guard of Craigslist, $25. And the headlight protecters didn't sit right, they flared out to the side too much. It looks better like this i think.

The rack is actually held down by 6 bolts, 2 on the front, 2 on the back and 2 in the middle so its pretty evenly distributed. I even made an adapter plate that will allow me to connect the rack to the truck even when the shell is off. The plate attaches to the truck via 2 bolts (the ones used to hold the shell on). And they bolt into the middle 2 bolt holes. Then the rack is bolted to the adapter plate so it is secured in the front. The back end of the rack rests on the roll bar and is strapped down so it can't bounce up and down.

Man it seems like by you there are yellow 4Runners galore! I can't even find 1 here of any color lol. I did a quick photoshop the other day of the top and i have to admit i like a black top best. So that's the color its going to be. I wanted to get it painted before winter but that doesn't look like it's going to happen I guess i'll just wait till spring…

I fully plan on getting my lift and tires put on before winter though, i just ordered a U-bolt flip kit from Wab-Fab so i'm looking forward for that to come in the mail. Then it's time to get wrenchin!

Hey, I know it might be a lil ways...but there HAS to be one of the rental booths out there in a nearby city... You know, paint booths with heaters. My buddy is in Maryland and did his last winter in a rental booth. But heck, if you don't really NEED to till summer...who cares, right? lol. It doesn't look bad to me, to be honest... but I know, you're wanting that bumble bee GT look, QUICK LIKE! hahaha. Should be nice...

PS> The Yellow on yellow...the reason I said that is because, well, the guy had EVERYTHING else black on it. The rack, Warn Bumper, Rear Bumper(big, lol), Wheels, shell trim...and I don't know, it just looked sweet. Either way, it should be pretty easy with just the top, no?

Hmm i never thought about a rental paint booth. That's an interesting idea… Maybe ill try and find one this winter. Hopefully i get this job that i applied for at this body shop, then i'll have NO problem getting the top painted.

I had considered painting the top to match the truck but to me it just looked outta place. I bet with the black everything else it looked nice but i want that look like the top and cab are 2 separate pieces (which they are). So i'm going to go black.

Hey Brian,

Yeah, my homie said I should tell you it was 40$ for the day...>NOT BAD, eh? I guess they're not always that cheap....but the nice thing is, Brian....NO BUGS, NO CRUD and GREAT ventilation!

Or, you could just roll on the roof...>I mean, it's textured anyway, ya know? I thought about doing that, but the Red on Red is REALLY hard to match, ..so nahhhh, lol.

Have fun with the kit...don't tear yer knuckles off young man! lol. Jk, it's pretty straight forward from what I've read and heard.

Best wishes, NOW GET'R'DONE! lol

Mark

Mark,

$40 is nothing lol. That's good to hear means i should have the top black and the lift and tires on real soon! I'll probably spray it on, but if that turns out bad, i'll resort to rolling it on.

Lift should be fun… rusty bolts galore haha. With a little patience and a lot of PB Blaster, the lift will be on!

Cool, ..........

.....and someone was telling me about another product that is FAR superior to any of the normal 'shelf brand' rust removal products. I know, 'rumors', lol.... Anyway, it's a strange name with an '88' or something like that in it... Numbers, I'm meaning, lol. Any plans on using new hardware in that area? (Nuts, bolts, etc....and then treating them to avoid further rust-locking up with rust?) After all.....this thing probably NEVER saw what it's going to see(or has been seeing) in the mud, etc...... and I imagine, ...no, I KNOW, lol, that's only going to increase at this point. So, just curious if you plan on undercoating after treating as much as possible?

I was planning on coating the frame in Por15 so ill probably hit all the hardware with a healthy dose of rust converter then paint over it. And i gotta start lookin but i bet there is a place near me that has paint booths.

Found these bad boys on Craigslist. 100 watts 6" amber. I'm not sure where to mount them, any ideas? Also i have another 2 of the same lights that are on the bottom of the bumper, i may put the small square ones on the basket, or should i put the amber ones there? Hmm…

I would use the rectangular ones for back up lights, maybe? Maybe the amber would work well up front and cut the fog a bit better?
