It's actually warmed up down here, I'll wait to put the hard top on until after RC.

Yeah I mean it's not too cold here but I'd rather not have to spend a 40* maybe even 30* night under the soft top when I could just put the hard top on.

By the way, do you have any recovery gear? I am bringing my winch (obviously) a tow strap and a tree saver plus shackles.

tow strap, hi-lift, ratchet strap, some chain and shackles... that's it for me.

brian, compressor?

out of all the trails we did on my last trip, i was the least prepared, and i only needed the tow strap once. a good spotter is key

Hey Brian.... I have a lighter plug in Heater with ON/OFF from HFreight that's great, and on sale right now for like 8$. I've had it for several years, and just bought another one for those REALLY cold nights in the Sierras(0*F, etc.). Also found a great Rechargeable Battery Pack powered Radiant Heater for the Tent, when sleeping in the truck isn't an option(in high bear areas, they wont bother the tent with the CAREFULLY washed persons in it! lol... Rinse off the Ribs and Taters stuff's, really good.... But they WILL take off with your crap, so I have to lock it in the back of the rig)....But NOW, I have a Rack... so that will all change/.........Can't put stuff on top because they get up there on the side and push if they can to try and get the stuff to slide off... .and it HAS happened to me, more than once! lol.) EXTRA CAR AND TENT HEATERS=ONE OF THE BEST CAMPING/EXPEDITION INVESTMENTS I'VE EVER MADE! You can also grab a spare battery from a yard(HIGHLY recommended! ) and keep it charged(I have a portable charger too).... and run them in the tent off the spare battery and inverter(Inverter=EQUALLY important investment! lol)

Ok, enough of that..........

Recovery gear.....

28' Smittybuilt HD-20K Strap

8K# Come-Along

Hi-Lift

Shovel

HD Rubber Floor Mats made of Tire for 'Porta-Trax' to aid in getting out of sand/bad spots)

2 Slices of 4x4 for spots where I need to get more out of a jack or soften the rigging up to protect my trucks parts, lol. (also for chalks)

Portable 100# Max tire compressor/Green Slime Brand-Kit.... Takes a lil while but works just FINE!

1/2" Breaker Bar with 21 Impact Socket for tire removal

2-5# Log Splitters for logs and aiding in 'getting out'

(I'd love to have a winch... but not in the cabbage crop forecast right now! lol)

Not recovery, per-say, but for ME, traveling alone often?: I also have a lot of extra parts that if they go bad, I'm still outta there, like my spares of AFM/TPS/Water Pump/Stat/Fuel Pump, all in my side panels wrapped nicely. (why not, right? THEY WEIGH NOTHING! lol)

Good to hear Ian, yes I will have the compressor and glad to hear we (hopefully) won't need to use it that often.

Mark,

As usual you're chock full of useful information!

I need to get a 12v DC heater and power converter!!

What exactly is "a slice of 4x4"? lol

Gonna put a spare t-stat, etc. just in case.

Gonna update the list later this week.

we will need it. i discovered that airing down = good, so we (or i, anyway) will need it to get back up to highway pressure.

Yeah hasn't it? Sometimes i like to look at the "before" pictures to remind me that my hard work has paid off!

I appreciate all the compliments/constructive criticism, it really helps keep me motivated!

Stay tuned in to this build, I have a plan that i'd like to "put together" before next summer...
