It's Not done. Says he got the transmition back in, and the rear plug was wet when he pulled the flywheel. So I guess that theory has proven true, He has not started on the front yet, which makes me concerned about how he knows it is the plug, but I suppose if the back one was leaking then... At this point I really dont even care when it is done I just want to know a definite. Now, tommorow, next Christmas, I dont care, im just tired of getting bull song and dance stories about when it will be done. I dropped the motor off originally the Friday after Memorial day weekend, and was told it would be done in a week. Here we are 3 months later and im still dealing with this guys lack of integrity and bad craftsmanship. Im not sure if I should wait till Friday and give him a chance to fix it or...

update

Talked to mechanic on Wednesday, he said he would be done Friday for sure, that he just had to seal the front plug, today he says he is talking off the alternator and has not pulled the timing cover yet . You dont need to take the alternator off to do this, at this point I just said box up what you've taken off, you had your shot, im coming to get it, and do it myself. AND NOW HE IS DUCKING MY CALLS!! Or gone for the evening. Either way he said he would be there and call me later in the day. I had a tow truck scheduled to come down and pick it up tonight. I am absolutely done with this guy, done. I have never met such an unreliable, flakey person in my life. Talked to a lawyer today, im done waiting on this man to try and make this right.

Well I went down there Saturday. Truck was on a lift, with the transmition 10feet away, and bolts/parts everywhere. Apparently we had a miscommunication when I said I was picking it up done or not. Anyway, we had a long talk and it seems like he finally woke up and wants to try and make this right. So I am giving him another shot. At this point I have not had a vehicle for 3 months so whats 1 more week.

At this point I dont really care anymore about what happens or does'nt happen to the truck. If it comes back without a windshield I would just be happy to have it back lol. Another thing I forgot to mention is, when I was under the lift with him we looked at the back of the motor and the leak is not coming from the oil plugs, it appears to be coming from the cam seal area.

truck update:

Not done, shocker I know. So it turns out that the silicone on the oil pump never cured/sat up. The mechanic who is doing the work told the machinist it was still wet and tacky and the oil bleed out right passed it. In my exp that stuff drys in 5 minutes, but I suppose anythings possible, maybe it was old. He said they will button it up tommorow and put the transmition back in. I dont know if that means thats all thats left or what. Kind of hard to get any answers. Wish this would come to an end already

For what it is worth, I think he is trying to make it right. He is paying the mechanics shop next door to do the work, so it sounds like he does not have a ton of control over when it is worked on, but hopefully he is on their case about getting it done today.

Just talked to him. They reassembled it and it still leaks out the front worse than before, he said come pick it up, but before I can do so I owe him 97 dollars for the tow bill!!!!! WTF, im not sure what to do now. I guess im fixing it myself like I should have done to begin with. My money is on cam seals, but he said they were dry and there is no oil on the timing belt/area around it.

Go give him a nice boot to the teeth and get your truck back from those douchebags.
And if you MUST pay him $97 Make sure you pay him in pennies and nickles

I paid the tow bill. I think he did what he could to try and fix it, doesnt makeup for all the 30 or so times it was not done on time or the fact that a simple rebuild took a month and a half but, he did take it apart again down to the block and re-seal front main, rear main, galleys, and oil pump so I am ok with paying a bill for that if all that is ruled out in being the cause of the leak(s). Thanks guys, Ill let you know what I find more towards the weekend.

update

I broke down and took it to the stealership guys. I just dont have the time right now, and wont for a few solid months, we are really busy at work and I dont see it letting up anytime soon. Drumroll please..............The oil pump is warped and will not seal to the block, so I guess other mechanic did re-seal the pump, it just wouldnt seal so it was a wasted effort and 1 month of my time. It has 60 PSI of oil pressure behind it so I guess it could leak if not perfectly straight. That is the front leak, and the back of the motor is the rear main seal. I do not know yet if it was missing or just leaking but They are taking pictures of the work.
