I just installed rear seats in my '86 4Runner. I put in a set of split seats from an '87 and everything bolted up with little modifications. The bottom cushions each have two hinges that bolt in the front; the seat backs have post hinges bolted into the sides of the interior (requires minor trimming); there is also a hinge between the seat backs (either a hole or a bolt on hinge); the seat backs also have top supports that bolt in under the interior quarter panels (requires cutting a hole in the panel, don't worry that is a guide stamped in from the factory). For seat belts you can either run three lap belts or two over-the-shoulder and one lap belt; either way you need to cut a hole to expose the bolt hole on either side. It took me about two hours to modify the interior and install the seats.
