Kinkeds 91 4Runner slow Build/Fix Thread
I figured i would start this as i've gotten alot of help from other threads on Yotatech. Bought the truck a couple years ago, the wife crashed it, so now i'm fixing and slowly adding to it.
Things that are already done.
Rebuild at 290K due to blown con rod.
new front bumper
cleaned up the fenders from the accident.
now i'm moving on to the rust above the wheel wells. As i don't have any idea how to weld, or a place to learn and do it myself. i'm fiberglassing and using POR-15 to fix the issue.
Pics and stuff to follow.

some pictures.
the first is the problem, once i had sanded it all down. for the sanding i used 40 grit with a sanding disc on the drill. once the sanding was done i used marine clean and metal ready (came with the POR 15 starter kit) to clean and prep it. once that was dry and ready i did the first coat of POR 15. went on well, the only hard part was the inside of the fender, but with enough scratched knuckles it went on.
now on to my mistakes.... i tried to put the fiber glass matting ( should have used the normal fiberglass cloth as its much smoother) to quickly. so i little repaint with the POR and an hour and a bit later i tried again. it went on nicley when the POR was really tacky. the problem with the matting is that it is full of strings that are not braided. after another hour i used the POR to seal the matting onto the truck. I let that dry for another hour or so then painted the rest of the fiberglass with the POR.

As you can see the matting did not become nice and smooth. I'm going to try to sand it before i paint over the POR with some primer and rocker paint.if that doesn't make it nice and smooth, in a couple weeks i'll be doing this again with fiberglass cloth.

Hubs
I got the new hubs on friday, picked them apart and cleaned them up. Unfortunatly it was dark out so i didn't get any pictures of them when i was cleaning. I repainted the Black ring as they were beat up.
on to today, i went to Canadian tire and got some new bolts for the face as i didn't have any.(M6-1.00x16) thanks to those that have posted that info as it was a big help.
Here are the Hub faces back together, and the bodies cleaned up
The face bolts painted red because it will make the truck go faster
All the parts cleaned up
Back together and waiting to go on the truck
So far i've paid
$30 - Case of beer for the hubs
$25 - for new gaskets and O-Ring from toyota
$7 - for the new bolts and washers.
evrything else i had laying around the house.
I'll post more pics when i put them on
