thats the plan. once i get the idle issue worked out, and replace the 02 sensor, TPS sensor (got codes for both) ill change the oil and drive it to my place in WV... thats a 5 hr 250 miles trip. if it makes it there and back, then ill heat west.

thing has 218k miles on it! if its come this far... whats another 3k miles?

NICE!

i couldnt agree more. ive had a set for years (this last summer while in WV my set was stolen from under my camper... so i got on craigslist and bought another set! (in ohio) got all 4 mounts, bars and lock cores for 100 bucks! the bars only have about 2 inches over hang. i like just a little more, but i mount my jackson kayaks up there as well as my bikes. maybe even get one of the areo boxes this summer. im currently drawing up how im going to set up the rear for sleeping. when i head west ill be sleeping in the back.

anyone have any rear sleeping suggestions?

ill be running all the whitewater i can find along the way!

stay tuned for some drawing and packing lists!

Good looking runner, Put some money into it and it will be great.

As for your 3k-taking-off-like-a-bat-outta-hell problem, this is occasionally caused by the TPS.
Read up on it some and you will find plenty of answers.

One thing that doesn't make any sense to me is that you have a 22R sticker on a 22RE Engine. 22R is carbed 22RE is fuel injected.
Was the engine ever converted? Just a differen't valve cover? Or maybe just a sticker someone slapped on?

Just something to look into because that could solve a few problems you may be experiencing

All in all, it looks good.
Good luck!

yes! i know!! ive been wondering the same thing! i have no idea why it has a 22r sticker... maybe a different engine with 22re fuel system... peep what one of the PO's did to the exhaust manifold!

more pics coming in a couple days! have the tps and o2 pulled an cleaned the insude and moving parts of my FILTHY throttle body!

okay... time for an update!

my armrest pad was JUNK.. smelly rotten exposed crumbling foam. so my temp fix (which i actually quite like the feel of) is a 2x4. haha. i think it looks kinda hick for sure, but i like how firm it is. i could see how bent the metal support plate was under the foam, no doubt from people jamming there elbow into it, so this is a lot sturdier. i like the way the 2x4 feels (firms, sturdy and secure), just not how it looks, ill come up with something to improve the looks.

and here you can see the bent up plate... i hammered it back pretty flat too! it was MUCH worse.

put the inclinometer in. just used some heavy duty velcro. its working great! very secure.

also replaced the TPS!

removed the throttle body for a thorough cleaning!

here is inside the AFM: (not sure if this looks normal or not?)

also replaced the o2 sensor! (there was no gasket, so you can see how bad it leaked)

new TPS installed (and not adjusted correctly! doh! had to re adjust it!)

and all back together!

i know its not BUILD type of stuff, but def stuff that needed done! BTW, every thing of done on this truck has been with a screwdriver, plier, socket, and allen wrench set all from harbor freight... all metric of course.. and a set of feelers from advanced. less than 45 bucks in tools... and a cheap-o wal-mart stanley tool box. i have around 10k in craftsman tools and my boy 45inch double box... but they are in storage and not easily accessible. just goes to show what some simple tools can get you! dont be affraid to get a few basic tools and go to down. youll be amazed at what you can get done!

yeah, it was a decision i consciously made. i left my 9-5 job and condo life to be a white water raft guide and to travel some . i really dont have anything tying me down, and im only 25, and.... the 9-5 life really just isnt for me, so i did what i had to do to be happy. it was a big change, but absolutely worth it! and all the stuff i kept, will be waiting for me when im ready to settle back down.

alright! time for an update!

the truck is running fine (except for i lost the TPS clip wire... so it kept falling of... fixed with a couple bread ties!) and when it rains hard it runs like crap... not sure why... i wd-40'd everything electrical.... anyways....

heres what ive done:

cleaned out the back, layed down the seats and bought a $12 rug from family dollar... they didnt have black or grey so i went with navy blue! also bought a towel to put over the seats for protection. 3 bucks for the towel at FD.

front is cleaned and sorted:

heres a couple shots of the back, of course its not totally packed. i have been expirementing with packing arrangements.. its been tricky since my rear glass wont go up or down. haha.:

outside:

kayak mount details... please ignore my finger in the corner of the shot:

cheapy power station from wal-mart for charging, ipod, phone and running the GPS and any other 12v devices i might need, say if a friend needs to charge too:

i also changed the oil with some 15w-40 rotella, and some lucas oil stabilizer.... i may have over filled it a bit (not a ton, dont worry) but it seems to be fine... and since its okay with a touch of extra oil.... i wont complain!

saddest thing of all... i dont have a radio. i listen to my ipod through my headphone. due to other expenses for this trip i cant afford a radio.... with that said!

does anyone have an extra car stereo laying around theyd be willing to donate to the cause?? a nice tape deck?... or something with an 1/8" stereo jack or USP plug on the front? mainly just so i can run my ipod through the radio!
