Finally!

9 years of searching I finally got my arse into another toy! Too bad it's a 2wd auto. I'll fix that soon. the positives are rust free, factory ac and only 107k. on with the pics

Hey!

That almost looks like my truck!

With the growing traffic jams where I live, the automatic isn't too bad...

What are your plans for it?

Well first off the motor is apart not sure what was wrong but I'll probably do a 3rz swap. It seems that will cost less than putting a new head and timing kit on the 22re. Then it's getting a 4x4 swap and 5 speed. I don't mind throwing money at it as I got the truck for free. My supervisor said just get it out of his yard so I towed it home.

It really is and has never seen a Michigan winter. It came up from Mississippi so no rust at all. If i didnt know better i would think its previous owner was a little old lady who only drove it to church on sundays. It even has the factory tool kit and owners manual. I have just located an 89 4x4 that's body and frame is shot for $500 so I'm going to pick it up for all the parts I need for the 4x4 5 speed swap. I won't get to put them in until spring though as I live on a one way street with no driveway or garage. I'm still not sure if I'm going to do the 3rz or not. 107k on a 22re is barely broken in lol. I work for advance auto parts so getting parts for the 22re should be pretty cheap and finding a low mile 3rz around here costs a pretty penny.

I don't think an SAS is in the cards for me. This is going to be my DD so the plan is to keep it IFS. This will be my 5th toy build and I really didn't like the way my 85 drove on road compared to my IFS trucks. If it were going to be a trail rig I would totally SAS but michigan is a giant sandbar, not enough rocks to justify the swap. I also would have to farm out the welding work as I don't know how or have the equipment to do so. Keeping it IFS is pretty much a bolt in affair and something I can do over the course of a week when I'm not working.
