Brian- I would have definitely sold you the top, but im trading it for the parts truck containing the motor im swapping in.

Soft top is gone, and my 85 pickup has arrived
This week ill be yanking the 22R out of the 85, and ill start tearing into that.
The more i think about it, i may use the 5 speed trans and t-case out of the 85, since i have everything ill need to do a 5-speed swap. and it would be the perfect time
Does anyone have any opinions on the marlin HD clutches vs the WabFab clutches? I heard the Marlin clutches grab great, im used to driving diesels, and stage 3 racing clutches, so i prefer something that grabs and goes.
I sold the ARB and Winch to Toy3sgte, so that freed up some extra cash to put towards the build, so im going to pick up an Engnbldr street/RV head as well.

I found a local guy who was extremely interested in my soft top. I traded him the soft top for an 85 Toy Pickup, with a 22R, manual tranny & tcase, and solid front axle. I will be putting the 22R with the manual tranny and tcase into my 89. I can also use many other parts off it, so i made out pretty good on that. It will make the 5 speed swap ten times easier as well, being able to get all the parts out of the 85.

We got a ton of work accomplished over this past weekend.
We started on Saturday morning, and after dragging the 85 up to the garage, and ripping off half the bed in the process, we got it up on the lift and started tearing it apart.
We managed to get everything pulled in about 5 to six hours. I dont have too many pics of us tearing it apart, but im sure you can figure it out. We started with the driveshafts, then divorced the tcase from the tranny, lowered it down, divorced the tranny and bellhousing from the block, and lowered it down. Then we pulled the downpipe apart from the rusted up exhaust system, and pulled off the downpipe.
The truck looked like it has sat in the ocean for a year. Almost everything from the cab back was rusted up pretty bad. Yet to our surprise, we only had to torch off one bolt, and it was where the downipe connects to the exhaust manifold. EVERY other bolt came out without a hitch.

After we had everything behind the motor dropped out, we lowered the truck back down off the lift, and started unhooking the vaccuum lines, throttle cable, heater hoses, etc. We got the cherry picker hooked up to the hoist hook on the motor, and yanked it out.

Seems like a pretty successful day to me. We let the tranny and tcase drain over night, then went back Sunday morning to mount the engine on to an engine stand, and trailered it home. I'm glad the motor is finally out, and i can start tearing into it

Made some more progress on the motor swap! 
After a decent 6 hours in the workshop, and the help of a couple buddies, we got the motor torn down to the block and the rotating assembly.
I picked up a "Garage in a box" on sale from Harbor Freight, and my dad and I built a small workshop type deal inside of it. A Nice 8'x2' Workbench, and an 8'x8' heavy platform to roll the engine stand around on. Its solid, and works great. Heres a pic of the workshop and the motor before we started:

I think you can only go .020 and .040 over on a 22re. I went with .040 with no problems. If your interested, engnbldr also sells fresh recast heads with oversized valves.

Well, im waiting to hear back from the machine shop about some parts, so in the meantime i decided to start cleaning some parts of the truck up. I started with the suspension, and the rest of the front end. I only got to take pics of the passenger side, but i think you can get the picture 
Passenger side before, all dirty, and crusty with mud stained undercoating and surface rust:

And After some Silver Rustoleum Hammered, Rustoleum Truck Bed Coating, and a LOTTT of Masking off parts.

And Painted the hubs, sadly after the other pics were taken.

Next up is the rear end, repainting the rock sliders, and ill also take some pics of my new to me wheels.

Im not 100% sure when itll be done yet, i have to get the machine work done, get it all back together, and while im waiting on that, im building some custom fiberglass fenders. So stay tuned!

What model is your Carr light bar? The M-profile? I've been looking to get one for my 93 and I've been doing as much research as possible. Any complaints?
I like the silver on the suspension and hubs, BTW. It's different and it looks really cool
