Got the frame painted today, still awaiting some parts from online. I got my bushings from partsgeek though, so I know they are a good source. Now I need some shackles, bolts, and U-bolts to put the rear suspension together. Then gas tank stuff etc.

Got the leaf springs and U-bolt plates painted today. At first I wasnt going to, but I figured it was gonna annoy the crap out of me later on. Got my shackles from trail-gear. The U-bolts I ordered from addicted-off-roads website, seem a little too big. Maybe they aren't stock replacements I don't know. But anywho, waiting on the hex-head diff studs, freeze plug for ABS delete, Fuel tank with gaskets etc, front-eye bolts for leaf springs, bump stops for rear suspension since the truck didn't have any, annnnnddddddd I think that's it. So much for buying the PS4 that just came out lol.

always good to have all old stuff freshly painted and clean. any reason for the abs delete plug instead of just leaving the abs sensor unless its already missing than it makes sense

I know, I love spray painting parts.

Dont really have much of a reason to be honest. Just kinda like to get as much things out of the way to make it easier for future repairs. Kinda like the CV Axle Stud Mod, or when you take the side plate off in the fender-well to get to the starter and you leave it off lol.

I guess I could've just cut the wires at the sensor though, didn't really think about it too much. lmao

Got my leaf springs on with my trail-gear shackles and energy suspension bushings. For the front pin, I just used a grade 8 bolt. Gas tank also came so I got that painted. I would have put up the rear axle housing, but my bumpstops haven't made it yet. So most likely next week I will do that, and start tearing down the front suspension.

Don't know why my pics are so blurry, I need to change some settings on my phone.

Got my rear suspension all setup today. Still need those studs for the diff though, need to see whats going on with those.
Attachment 146974

Then started to clean up the gas tank skid plate.

I would have put the gas tank in, but unfortunately the old high pressure fuel line is rusted to part of the fuel pump feed pipe that broke off the old tank. Trying out liquid wrench now, since pb blaster wasnt cutting it.

In other news, still trying to get the old LCAs out, but the cam bolts are pretty much welded to the bushings sleeve. Very frustrating job, need to get some good cutting blades for my sawzall.

From rock auto, it's a tank from a company called Dorman. Haven't fitted it yet because the high pressure fuel line is completely seized to a broken-off part of the fuel pump, but I'm attackin it from all angles.

Got the diff stud elimator kit on. Took twice the time, because I didn't notice the flat washers that were supposed to go in with the studs. So just a lot of sitting with a little hex key putting them all on.
Attachment 146476

Rear diff on, probably one of the best RTV beads I've done so far. I find it next to impossible to get the RTV stuff on perfect with a continuous bead, but we'll see how it holds.

Looks good. Worth taking the time to make it clean. Its easy to inspect for leaks, stress cracks, and any thing else. Looking forward to the build. I also agree with the flat black paint. Everyone uses the gloss or semi-gloss.

Nice job. Hope you used silicone made for gear oil. Heard of others having leaks using other stuff. Toyota sells a red fipg that is made for gear oil and works great

Yeah, the ultra grey stuff, I read back of it, said it was. Shouldn't be a big deal since the axle housing/diff was pretty much bone dry from sitting for a while.

Btw, I just ordered some long travel parts. So I plan to have long travel up front for now. But, for christmas, I got presents for my family. So, I'm in the process of just gathering parts.

Thanks man, you might find it easier to work on a pickup truck than a car. I'm sure you'll grow to love it though. My toyota had always takin care of me, becomes part of your family really.

Thanks bud. Yep, that's my baby, not the one from this build thread. That was back in summer of '10.

Nice man, good luck with whatever you plan on doing with it, and put a security system on it.

Happy new year guys. Just a couple things, trying to recover some funds for the build, but I did get a couple things.

I got the replacement high pressure fuel line that goes to the fuel pump assembly. Part # in pic.
Attachment 145254

Got the gas tank mounted.
Attachment 145255
Attachment 145256

Got the axles in after replacing the o-rings and inner seals.
Attachment 145257

And I got some more parts that I can't wait to get installed.
Attachment 145258

So now, I'm saving for shock hoops, heim steering, a brace for the control arm brackets, and a mig welder. Hope yall had a good new years.
