chopitrakeit's 1995 Pickup Build-Up Thread

Ok, to keep things simple, I will keep a build up thread going on my 95. Here is the tale that brings me to this point: July 2005, day trip to the camp, deep water, heavy foot, 3.0 dies horrible death. Truck becomes storage rack and a general eyesore. I finally drug it into shop, emptied garbage, removed box, hood, process of stripping to remove 3.0.

The PLAN (if there is one?) to either install 22re 5spd from other truck or cummins 4B3.9 and sas. That decision will come soon and depends on weather I want the 95 to be a DD with the 22re, or the cummins? I have so many scenarios going through my mind. If the PU does not get the cummins and SAS, then my 89 4Runner will. Its a toss up. So this will either be a 3.0 to 22re swap thread or a 3.0 to sas plus cummins/700R4/NP205 thread.

Will post phots as I get them. The suspense is killing me!

To continue: I am thinking that taking the cab right off would make the swap easier and allow me to do a better job cleaning up the frame. Plus, If I go with the cummins, there will likely need to be a bit of body lift for hood clearance. I guess my question is: for any of you who have done a swap to a different motor/tranny combo, is it easier if the cab is off as I suspect it is?
Thanks.Mike

SLow moving but some progress. Cab is off, 3.0 is gone ( 2 holes where rods came out...phonomenal destruction). I have cleaned the frame up, painted it with Loctite extend and black rust paint, new brake lines etc. Test fitting the 22re w/5spd, found I needed the cross member from the donor truck. Now have run into the motor mounts welded to the frame are wrong angle/position. They need to go way back. The donor trucks are wasted. Anyone made a set? Any templates already drawn up so I dont have to "reinvent the wheel" on this? Thanks for the support. Mike
