Yes, in our 87, 6 blips and 10 blips are 2 different codes.... We have 1(normal) through 14(not recalling at the moment, lol)... Or something like that, maybe 17.... Whereas the 88 has codes like 6 blips and then 4 blips, which would be a 64 code..... make sense?
Can't recall off hand what 6 or 10 codes are... info overload I guess, lol. However, ...let's say AFM is 6, ....if you have removed your AFM connector recently for any reason, then tried to start it, w/out afterwards resetting the ECU, ...then that would store a code 6(or whatever AFM is). Same for the TPS, which does not stop the rig from running.... If you disconnect it while running, it WILL register and store a TPS code(which might be 7?) lol.
Hope you nail those gremlins, quick, Blake!

Pretty 4runner!!! Paint work looks great. I miss my IFS rigs sometimes...I just picked up an 88 from CA with one spot of rust and its tiny i will be restoring for a daily and mild trail rig.

thanks man! Its up on top near the intake. The stock one is still in the stock location..
the misfire is still going... took the O2 sensor out.. first thing I noticed... no label.. so the previous owner must have bought a cheapie? I know these work best with denso... but... check out the white stuff.. according to google, it could be silicate... warming the sensor.. giving false readings... which would explain why my spark plugs look hot.

nice find. yup run denso sensor. i replaced my o2 on my truck not to long ago due to getting a CEL on long drives but would clear every time i restart truck so i could never pulled the code. was told that o2 would be a good start and guess what it fixed the random CEL lol

The Bosch I got a couple years ago(then removed days later due to some minor misreading issues) looked JUST like that, Blake. A factory Denso 02 Sensor is longer filament and it has holes in the cage, not louvers, as that one and mine did.
Agree with Toyo... Denso all the way on this one.
Not sure it's being white is that abnormal... Mine was after 100K on the same one.... looked just like that and still worked. BUT, that aftermarket one might not be doing the trick. When you get a new Denso in there, reset the ECU, yeah?

strange i found part #234-1051 denso at autozone.com.. like 35 bucks...
toyota wants 142 for their part# 89465-19265...
usually I go with Toyota just because, its lasted this long right? but... almost 5 times the price? makes me skeptical..
oh well.. I'm gonna think about it.. feel free to advise..
gonna paint my wheels black today

Find that Denso Site and get it directly from them? Lots of guys do that, ... Sorry though, I don't have that link, Blake.
Find it on here though, for sure... cuz I remember someone saying "some of these denso sites on google lead me to a rip off"... kinda thing, ya know? Most of the Denso Official Site deals come out to like 35$ or so though.

I'm just untrusting of the autozone part being the actual ideal sensor. you know?
I just want the sensor that the truck came from the factory with.. The whole do research buy once deal... I'll check out the denso website.

when these get messed up, I'll fork over some cash and buy some other ones.. but these are aluminum so I didn't wanna just get rid of them.. I might consider a glossy black powder coat too.. but the fact that they've met rocks and got scraped up makes it feel like a waste of any large amount of money to invest in them
