94 cheap runner

Well my name is Julian. I have owned a 2nd gen and 3rd gen 4runner, also a 80 series landcruiser and a corolla. That's my Toyota history. I am selling my Silverado to buy another 80 for a dd and tow rig.

I bought this 4runner with intentions of a wheeler. Then I picked up another cheap yota pickup so I decided to get her going as the wheeler and make the 4runner the dd and tow rig.

Well not being sure of how shell tow and the fact that the more I go over her the more little junk I find ive decided to keep her as the wheeler
So I bought her from my brothers friends family. $600.
She has sat since 09', she was destined to be a plow rig. She even comes with a Meyers plow which im going to sell.

She fired right up once I put a battery in her. brake lights come on and no power steering. Rusty rockers and rear fenders.

I am trying to get ahold of some cruiser springs to lift the very saggy rear.

My intention are to clean her up as best I can as far as rust goes. Give her a fancy spray paint job. A pretty good overhaul to get her running well. I am picking up some beat 35s for $75 that ill run till they are gone.

I am going to steal the wheels off of the other yota since I like the style better and my spare matches.

Ill try keep progess up as I go.

So far I have chopped one rocker down and made the initial cuts to chop out rear fenders. Also removed lower bumper valance and took off plow mount and half the wiring for it. Took off rear bumper and rusty side steps.

Must not be much of a weight if this is gonna be your tow rig..
Silverado would be a better option..

I chopped some more of the rear fenders out. I also took the wheels from my other yota to put on this. I am grabbing some 35s tomorrow so I am gonna throw them on for giggles. More pics tomorrow evening.

I threw on some bald 35s that measure out to 32". Painted the steelies and finished the rear cutting of passenger fender. Cruiser springs will be on there way to me soon. I know this is all useless without pics.

im trimming the front fenders in order to deal with this rust. Im thinking of following the lines I have marked with tape but I could follow the natural fender lines and just widen it a bit???

Heres she sits on extremely worn 35s that measure out to 32s. A buddy of mine has some 36s. There fairly worn but way more usable then these ones.

Finished trimming the bulk of the rear passenger fender. I need to do some cosmetic trimming but mostly done. I also bought some rubber lining stuff that im gonna use on inside rear fender to seal up cracks and offer some protection.

These are color choices and I am leaning towards the sandish one on right. I was going to do a two tone color with olive drab n bottom and sand on top but my Silverado is olive drab so I am thinking sand with black trim and bumpers and wheels and itll look sharp.

Oh and cruiser springs are on the way. Should be here Wendesday but I will be gone for work and not back for two weeks.

I will get back though and am going to tear out entire rear end in order to clean and paint it. Go through it and replace bushings and bearings and go through brakes.

Who should I order through for parts?? I tried rockauto and could not even find bushings for rear control arms.

I had to change out my lock cylinder and what should have been easy I made super hard but I got her running today again. I turned her over and thought man shes way louder than she was before, sounds like an exhaust leak. Look down and my cat was missing. I hate thieves.

Im gonna try and finish paint when im home. Black handles, bumpers, grille etc.

I lost all my brakes right after i put rear springs in so i gotta fix that.

Im gonna sit down and do the math of how much it will cost to completely go through and replace or repair front end and then do it for how much be for sas. If its even somewhat close im just gonna do sas.

Thats how i want to go eventually so i might just do it now rather than waste money on this front end.

It needs evrything right now. Balljoints shocks brakes etc. That adds up so i might just save money by doing sas in long run.

I like that "stink bug" look. What cruiser springs did you put in it and how hard were they to do?

I wish i had kept track but im not even sure what color bands they were. Ill look and see if i can find what they were. I diconnected shocks since there garbage and diconnected panhard bar and took off sway bar.

I couldnt get them in on my own that way. But i had my brother push the axle down and i used spring compressors to get them in. Probably gave me 4 or 5". Was not overly hard if you have helping hands and compressors. Or you could probably diconnect more stuff and it will droop more.
