1992 Toyota 4x4 build up by solidaxle85

INTRODUCTION

Hey i'm kinda new to yota tech, Always browsed when i needed help working on my litte '86 22re which i unfortunately had to sell so i was out of the yota scene for a while dreaming about the day i would be rolling in one of these little japanese trucks again. I saw a lot of threads in YT about build ups of the huge off-road trucks and all that but that's not really my style. For my age group (19yo) you would think the opposite but, no i just want to make my toyota around and make it look beautiful. I'm not the most mechanically
inclined person i don't have a garage i don't have a hoist. I'm basically buying tools as i go this is just a learning experience for me. I'm looking for feedback or help or tips or whatever you guys can give me good or bad.

So about the truck:

- 1992 toyota 4x4 pickup sr5
- has the GLORIOUS 3vze with a blown HG and seized engine
- Solid frame(no rust hard to find where i live)
- Beautiful paint (beside one rust spot on wheel well rear driver side)
- immaculate interior
- Manual transmission

bought the truck for 1000$ which is a steal because i cant even get a rust bucket toyota that has a blown engine for that low of a price anymore.

What i'm planning on doing:

Like i said in the intro i'm not a huge fan about wheeling, though i love it and the trucks look amazing
its not really my forte. I'm more going for the Original look with a bit of after market styling,
i'm going to put 31's on it stock gearing who knows, We will see in the future how much of a lift
i put on it, and some after market lights is what i'm trying to go for.

The motor is going to be swapped out for another 3.0 i don't care for speed the fuel economy
is a bit meh with these truck but i don't have time or money
for a 3.4 swap which i what i would like to do.

So yeah i'll post pictures up of what i do most of the time if i need help ill take some pictures
ill get some pictures of the truck up tommorrow as well after i'm done work.

HERE ARE SOME PICTURES !!

Side view

Tailgates not rusty !!

4.88s on 31s is no fun, i did that for a week and it doesn't work on the freeway. 65 mph was topping 5th gear out. I'd get 4.56s or just stick with the 4.10s. I never felt like 4.10s was too tall for my 31s.

Nice find on the truck.

Don't go 4.88 unless you plan on 33s or taller. And that means definitely stay away from suspension lifts until you have bigger tires. Your truck can squeeze 33s with minimal fitment issues, so 4 inches of lift may rise it a little much.

So i guess one of my uncles that has a shop in his backyard might be able to help me out if I can take out the motor fast enough and find another 3vze that's 1992 or newer and not rebuilt. I went to a guy out here named Tony he owns a toyota shop in my town and he said that if the bottom end has been rebuilt not to put the motor in my truck or it will blow up. And anything pre 1992 has problems with cylinder 6? if i remember correctly PICS ARE SOON TO COME ONCE I FIGURE IT OUT !!

Yes pics are needed! I can respect the stock look with a minimal lift and tires. There's something to be said about that.

Looks clean too. No rust. That's always nice to find. I have yet to have a Yota , other than my 06 and 09, that didn't require some rust repair.

I was super suprised when i bought it that it wasn't already sold.

All i basically want in a truck is right there!

Its nice to find a good one sometimes.

As far as that bolt goes, you are right about probably having to move the PS reservoir.

I cant tell you how many times I overloaded drain pans in my dads driveway when I was younger, and dad was ready to kill me.

Keep up the good work.
