Quote: nah. as small as that was doesnt bother me. i told keep my eyes open any way lol. and i didnt weld enough without the helmet to burn my eye liids so its all good. you just tack body panels like that.
No I know all about it. Used to do it all the time. I actually woke up to flashburn at 4am a bit ago and it was the worst pain I've ever felt (granted I got an acetone-based paint in the eyes at the same time ). Now I don't flip the switch without it on. When I saw the pics of you without a helmet on, I think I got flashbacks. Everyone knows the risks and it's a matter of learning by doing

Again looks like a great start, keep the pics coming. Props for bringing an 84 back from near death.

near death is right. it was on the my uncles trailer on the way to the crusher and i snagged it before he left. and i had flashburn before. but its ok. its a project for school and im constantly in a hurry so just struck an arc after i had weled the pieces to get a pic of what looks like me welding. but i took a couple of pics like that so the school board wont know the difference hehe.

Did you weld in new sheetmetal around the windshield to repair the rust? My 4runner has a few holes in that area and I'm trying to decide the best way to get rid of the rust.... fiberglass would be easier, but new metal will probably last longer.

I painted the rusty chrome wheels on my old '81 Toyota. The paint held up well.
