Thanks for the info. Guess Ill have to tear it down and see whats going on inside.
Dual cases are amazing though! I can literally idle up things in compound low. Im doubting if Ill even need the 4.7s later

You may change your mind. Two of my buddies have the same setup as you and they seem perfectly content with it. I'm looking foward to being able to crawl slower over obstacles, instead of pounding and beating it harder than I would like.
My dad's friend has an old Scout II with Dual cases and an Automatic. He said it's geared so low, that with it in Neutral on the tranny and double low in the cases, it still crawls on the torque converter. : ) lol
I CAN NOT Wait to get my duals built and installed!!!

Thats exactly where I got the transmission from. I plan on keeping this truck for a while so Im kind of wanting to rebuild it. I found quite a few rebuild kits on ebay but most of them dont say what kind of bearings they use

I Don't mean to sound like I'm pushing them on you , but did you try the dealer?
Also, give Marlin a call, sometimes the website is wrong. Maybe they have a kit laying around they might be willing to part with. . .
You mentioned a couple posts back, that you like the 5spd better than the auto. Why? How much difference can you feel? I've never driven a yota of this age with an auto.

There is a HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE difference between the auto and 5spd. When i put the 5 spd in mine it was like a whole new truck. Had A LOT more power, was actually fun to drive, got about 4-5 more mpg, 4L seems to be a lot lower than the auto. Stick to the 5 spds for sure dude, theyre the way to go.
IMO!!

I personally got rid of my auto because it was nothing but headaches. my original tranny did not like to hit OD for a LONG time and was burning up my fuel so i got another tranny from a 95 that had like 30,000 miles on it and wired it up and threw it in my truck. Worked GREAT for about 5 months then started acting up. Never got OD and it was very annoying. Had to drive around without the tranny computer and shift the transmission manually so i could have some sort of OD.

Call a transmission shop and have them order you a rebuild kit. I used to work at a transmission shop, you can get a rebuild kit and do everything yourself for a couple hundred bucks and have a like new xmsn.

Definitely need GOOD Snap Ring Pliers. But I don't know about any other specialty tools. If you call Marlin, I bet you can talk to someone in the shop and find out. . .
Any progress with the tranny?

No progress yet. I actually just finished doing my own exhaust. I went with pacesetter headers and 2 1/4 pipe all the way out. I put on a 18" Magnaflow that I found at the junkyard for $6. It kind of sounds like a rice rocket but I dont mind it much. What a difference in power though! I can pull 70 up hills I used to only be able to do around 55 on.
Not sure when Ill get around to my tranny. It makes alot of noise but its holding up fine

Have you gone back and double checked all your bolts since you installed it? Could the noise be vibration somewhere? I know it's gear specific, but it can be due to differences in vibrations and such at differet speeds/rpms, etc?
Hope it holds up until you have a chance to fix it, instead of having to fix it!

damn just got done reading ur build up looks nice man came a long way i like the stance of your truck what size lift did you use with the 33's? and those rims and tires seem to tuck perfectly under your truck what r u running like 15x8/10 inch wheels with 33x12.5?? i just recently picked up an 85 runner i cant wait to get it in the air im thinking more allong the lines of 35's but im still debateing what a good lift for that would b so in the meantime im just getting my performance parts and armor

oh and by the way i had 529's and 33's on my last rig w/ a 5speed i did all right on the highway although that was in hawaii we dont exactly have 70mph speed limits i bet that gear ratio is badd ass with the dual t-cases
