If you dont have the stock bar and handle u can use a BIG Flathead screwdriver and a cresent wrench to turn it...thats what i just did. Soak the mechanism with WD40 too. good luck

Man I love being on the west coast and not having to deal with rust.

What are your plans for it?

Besides the rust it looks like a solid truck. Should be a fun build. My 84 I'm building was a lot worse off than yours and with a lil love it's already starting to look a lot better. I feel ya on cut off wheels , I've bought so many in the last few months it ain't even funny.

What kind of motor is in this beast? I am guessing 22r, Looks like a lot of work but the body looks pretty straight and rust free from the pics. Good luck with it.

Looks like you are making some great progress. Just a little elbow grease and the frame will clean up nicely. Looks solid overall.

If you get another tire carrier, just let is soak in PB Blaster for a couple of days at a time and get after it with a wire brush. I have salvaged some really bad ones in the past. I just give it some used motor oil with a squirt can when I change my oil and it works when I need it. It is one of those things that can get overlooked until you need it.

Sorry for the delay guys... I finally got some nice weather. Got the back stripped and painted with rust encapulator. Found a Rodent living under my hood. Some well needed parts came in today. Also getting the frontend ready for some bracing and painting starting with this bracket.

Well no painting, seeing every time i try to work on the truck it rains Figured i could keep the build alive by adding a picture of my new wheels and tires 35"x16" boggers, on M/T 15" wheels. I couldnt rock those thornbirds.
