Thanks guys! unfortunately the red has about the same amount of rust. Was looking into the wolf steel replacement panels due to my rear wheel wells being cut and riveted. I remember seeing a 3.4 swapped 4runner in off-road magazine that had some cool custom steel fenders the owner created.

 

So I went down the highway and......death wobble. I greased the draglink and it seemed to get better. I decided to get the drag link repair kit from moog.


This side was stuck but nothing my big Matcoss couldn't handle.
This is what I had to remove from drag link to remove the drag link from the vehicle.
Removed grease zerks to allow boots to be removed.

Used a magnet to remove the remaining pieces from inside the draglink.
Everything removed
As cleaned as I was willing to go knowing that high steer will be in my future.
Going back together with the moog parts. I measured the springs and they were same height new to old so I probably could have just adjusted the slop out.

The dust boots can be installed backwards covering up cotter pin hole.

Installed and test driven. Death wobble went from 45mph to 30mph. Ok now I torqued u bolts. Checked toe. Found to be toed out. Set toed in about 3/16in. Test drove and death wobble is still around 30-35mph. Researching how to check my caster at home. I think my problem is caster and super bad tires. Going to Torque shackles tomorrow and recheck toe.

 

Picked up a set of wheels today I think they are American racing AR23's but the set I had before weren't painted black In the D windows. Either way I think I scored at $60 with lug nuts.

 

Decided it was about time to remove the yakima racks that the PO installed. Looks like it broke off the rail channel in the rear most part of the topper.
The lock cylinders drilled out like butter.
I was able to drill only the lock cylinders and save future functionality of the racks.
Decided to take the top off today I think we are going to do some local exploring this Memorial Day!

 

Went wheeling behind our house yesterday and she did great no problems what so ever.

Not sure how well you will be able to see in this picture but we found a sweet swimming hole with a tree growing out from a rock.

 

I installed the heated rear glass from my 86 doner runner and re wired the rear window motor to function without the safety switches but only with key on. I also polished most of the scratches out of the rear window.

 

That's coming around nicely. It's amazing how it started right up after a year and sounds good. For the rear quarter that you need you will be better off cutting parts from a donor. Research Wolf panels and I don't think you will find any write ups by happy customers. You might even be able to make a patch from a spare door since the body line runs through it.

 

Thanks nervo19 I have seen a few people not enjoy using their patch panels good to know that there is a trend.

 

I test fit the new wheels. I think they are going to have the correct offset to sit just past the fender with the wheel spacers removed.

UPDATE! Death wobble fixed! Always check Torque on your wheel spacers. I wasn't the one who installed these but I had an opportunity to retorque them and didn't when I tried a rotate to fix my death wobble issue. All of the nuts were hand tight upon removal today. I torqued both on at 100lbft as with all the wheels and test drove. Whala no more death wobble.

 

Also added a steering stabilizer forgot to take a picture while it was clean. I'm now able to drive the speed limits with no signs of death wobble. Yay!!!

 

My wife's 03 limited next to my 84sr5 both top of the line models and introductory models for their generation. Hers has the toy tech ultimate lift and some sliders. I documented the build but have yet to create a thread.
