85 4wd frame repair and powder coat

85 4wd frame repair and powder coat

I have 85 4wd thats frame has some holes in it.Does anyone have any suggestions about repairing this.I am also considering powdercoating it any tips or advice about DIY powdercoating?

It can be done and i have fixed and customized by own frame. Mine is a Canadian truck and the back half was pretty rusty. Bad enough that the cross member actually broke out of the frame.

I cut off the bed and body mounts and made plates for both sides of the frame then welded them on. Once done I welded a new bottom into the frame and re attached all the mounts. Also made a new custom cross member and braced the heck out of the whole frame. It's now bullet proof.

That said if I could buy a solid rust free frame I would have done that in a heartbeat. There was just none to be had for a sas xtra cab truck around here that we any better then mine.
