Anyway correct, the fuel pressure safety switch will accomplish that. The oem sender won't work in either case as I don't believe it has the power to run the pump nor do I believe it's even possible. Either with the sender for the sr5's or the switch for the ones with the idiot light. And the one with the idiot light I believe is normally closed anyway when the truck off and normally open when running to keep the light from coming on. There is a way to do it with the idiot light, but it's a wiring nightmare and using a few relays, your better off using the right switch.
Does the switch replace the oem fuel pressure sending unit the big one with the rubber boot on it? I see the threads on it.

no you keep that in place for your gauge/light, you got to tee off on something to use it. Just like you would for an aftermarket gauge. Apparently the 22r's have a second oil pressure port on the same side by the engine mount. Not sure if that covers the 82's though, but pretty sure the space required for the OEM or the safety switch won't allow you to run it there.

This is where a sandwich adapter comes in handy on the oil filter.

Seems like a lot of trouble, but considering your working with an electric fuel pump that has no way to turn itself off in the case of the engine dies with the key on...... bad things can happen. ie truck is upside down and your unconscious and cannot turn the key off..... of course there is other switches just for upside down and engine running, but that's not needed IMO on a carb'd truck since the engine will not get fuel to it to run when upside down anyway.

i didn't see a tee on summits site. Do you have a link for a tee that will work with with summit safety switch?

not sure the threads on the oem are metric and the ones on the switch are most likely SAE or BSP. What sizes I don't know off hand.

Quote: Thanks, he's an awesome dog I am definitely glad I picked him over sliders. Now I just gotta pick out a name for him. Sorry, don't meant to hi-jack your build toyo. I'll post up some more pics of him as they come in my own thread

How about "Slider" for a name?

BTW, back on topic, I use a Glowshift sandwich adapter for my Autometer Oil Pressure gauge and it works well.

Seriously, .... there are HUNDREDS of posts missing, Buddy! lol... What I mean is, .... I tell EVERYONE to check out your Truck and Flatbed, etc., threads, ....and they do, but they can't join. But ALL OF THEM, every one, has told me, "That's the sickest flatbed I've EVER seen... Don't even like them as a passenger truck, .....but I'd LOVE to own that!", lol. The pick up commentary isn't any different!

VERY nice work, man! Can't tell ya how much I'd love to see a simple video of it running up to your fav spot on the beach or something! lol. hint hint

i second that motion.

i absolutely love the way you have done both of your pickups and would have either one if i could in a heartbeat. this is my favorite body style and i like the "not over the top" setup you have into it, just the "ideal toyota" and i hope to keep seeing this pickup and the other on here for much much longer so keep up the great work!

I'll just add a 'YOU DA MAN!' while I'm stopping by! hahaha... Seriously, I visit your builds/projects every so often, when time allows, just to admire the QUALITY and thoroughness, let alone creative nature of your 'STUFFS'!

Seriously... Still my fav-flatbed, too... and this 82 is SICKIJUWAIAH! lol.

Thanks Chef!!
I just got a cap for this little truck. I finished painting it last week and put it on. So far it is water tight. I had a terrible time finding the struts for the rear window. I got a call today from an RV shop that said they had them.
I am headed down there tomorrow.
