That directions seems the best for me I like the "do every thing well and none great" aspect of that truck. I would like to run 35"s tho..

1 I got a little done last night I got my pilot bearing out tried a new better way (i didnt have a slide hammer). I filled the pocket behind the pilot bearing with grease I found a bolt that would fit snug in the center of the pilot bearing then I wrapped black tape around the theads so it wouldn't lose preasure and squirt grease all over, so when you have the bolt wrapped and the pocket behind the bearing filled with grease put the bolt in through the center of the bolt and smack it with a hammer and it will push the bearing out, I had to put more greas in every time the bearing moved but on the third wack it bearing fell right out, be sure to put a rag around it before it pops out otherwise I think you would splater grease every where.

2 I got my stuck keyset taken apart and removed a bent pin that was keeping the key set from turning, my years in the hardware store rekeying lock sets helped me out there (made a little different from a kwikset but the same basic principal)

3 I finished my last block off plate and got it installed so now the engine is ready to go back in the truck...Im getting closer.....

 

I got a big boost on my project today, I was graciously giv'n pretty much all the tan interior parts to finish the inside of my truck Thanks Terry!!

Oh yeah best Christmas in a while....LOL other than the 58 bucks in gas to get there and back that little ranger sucks on gas but with the shell on it, it would actually run 80-85 when with out it I was lucky to get 80.

I think I am gonna bob my bed to match the shell I picked up from Terry, I was thinking about it on the way home from there and yeah its gonna happen...LOL..

 

I wish I had your fabbing skills. Bet your truck looks great when you are done. Enjoyed meeting you. To bad Missouri doesnt have straight roads. Your not that far, just the roads are twisted and slow going here. I would jump at the chance to see some of your fabbing.

 

you can talk me up all you want but when you see my work you might change your mind...my deal is I have the know how of how things work and should work I just dont havet the equipment or the chance to get it done.

I haven't done much to it Ive been training and not had a lot of time to do any thing I got some of the parts put on I picked up from you. I got the threshold pc's put in and the weather stripping for the doos, I got the seat cleaned up and started making a heater core ( I dought it will work but I cant see spending that much on a heater core) and tearing apart the carb........

 

You sir are a brave sole to dig into the carb.. I don't think I've got the patience!

well I have not done any thing to the truck lately but I hope to get the carb put back together tonight.

 

Well I lied I didn't get any thing done last night on the truck I found a transmission fluid leak on my car (59,000 miles!!!)...I wondered why the slushbox was howling.....hope the warrany covers...any body know how good Chevy's warranty is, I knew I should have bought a Camry.....but the mallibu does get way better mileage even better than my bud's hybrid Camry

 

well I got about an hour of more cleaning and taking apart and puting back together done last night I finished last night with setting the floats droop and hight it all went back together well no supprises and nothing to complicated, I just looked at the microphiche on the paper.

I am looking for a different thermostat housing I need one off of a 20r with a manual fuel pump.I cannot run my manual fuel pump with the one I have off of a 20 or the one off of the 22 they both run parallel with the head and I need one to point away at a 45 or greater...any one know what model or vehichle I might be able to get it off of.

 

Sorry to hear about the tranny issue. I was the last one I thought would ever move over from the domestic autos. I paid off my last Chevy 2 years early and 2 weeks after that it left the wife and kids stranded on the highway. Went to Toyota and havent looked back. Wish I would of moved over years ago.

Glad to hear the carburator went well. I have ot admit, I am a little initmidated with carbs.

I have no idea about a the thermostat housing. What about an older Celica? I know some had the 22 in them but dont know about a 20.

 

yeah if I could have afforded a Camry I would have bought it but Chevy did take care of every thing and I drove it 200 miles today and it is nice and quiet.....now I need to put new tires on it and it will be a new car agian....LOL
