There isn't a level of profanity to describe how much I dislike what the 5th Gen looks like...

about the only true to its roots styling cues I noted were the much steeper windshield (very similar to the older gens) and the slanted C pillar.
That being said, I still really like what I see, though I dunno about the interior haha. As far as the exterior goes though, I like it a lot.

Yeah dude, I own a 2006 as a family vehicle and man, that plastic bumper crap is terrible and in the way. Don't get me wrong, it's a great vehicle on and off road but those bumpers need to go. I think Toyota ought to contract Bud at Bud Built to outfit the underbellies with some 100% pure American beef.

It looks like a Mazda Diesel truck mixed with Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X. almost identical.
However, i think that is the hottest Toyota to roam the earth since the 1978 TLC FJ40. It's good that they dropped the V8 and made it only slightly larger to benefit off road use rather than be a big beast like the Tundra.

I don't like how the front bumper is going to be difficult to replace with an offroad bumper without chopping the front end up. Its a big ugly compared the 4th gens, but I'm really more interested in the 4cyl option.

I actually think it looks really good. I see your point about the front bumper but the new style is more progressive and modern. Where an old style would have looked mid 2000's. I think when we all see one on the street your opinons will change or the new look will grow on you.
I do agree the 4cyl option is a total joke. Give us a 5 speed, turbo and 4wd and i will sell my Jeep tomorrow.

Gawd awfull ugly is all I can say.
I was looking forward to some sort of "throwback" rig since they said it would return to its roots. I see absolutly NO resemblence to ANY roots. Looks more like a mini sequia or a big highlander.
RIP 4Runner, you will be missed

I can dig it. Better lines than current model IMO. But I agree, and now they can wake up and try to sell us a smaller no BS 4runner again. With a removable top. I think Toyota competes with themselves on their SUV's. Break out with the 4Runner! Before it loses its "sweetness" status and becomes the highlander or massive Sequoia.
