95 Lumina Stereo Wiring
So My buddy has a beater 95 lumina currently with no stereo. Someone stole his faceplate about 3 years ago. Here's a good part, the face plate was for a cassete player! Remember those?
Anyways I had an old cd player that would at least give him some tunes on his 1.5 hour commute. We went to put it in and found that the po hadn't used a connector, they just spliced into the stock harness. Frustrating but not the end of the world. We got it wired up and it wouldn't turn on. The fuse was still good so I got my voltmeter and found that the fuse block doesn't have any power
. Well not the whole block but just the slot for the radio fuse. We jumped it with another wire and it worked fine. It's both the constant and ignition power wires.
At this point we'd been outside in a hot car in 110* weather so we called it a day. Any ideas on where the problem might be? Wiring is not a strong point for me at all. The only thought that I have is to pull power from somewhere else i.e. the cig lighter, lights, something easy that's in the dash but I don't have any idea on any complications. I don't know if I'll tackle that one but I thought I'd ask.
He's a painter and his car is always full of crap. It's got a blown hg and leaks oil and on top of that it has no a/c. I keep trying to get him to get rid of it and get into a yota. I was hoping this would be the last straw for him but nope.
