2010 Kia Forte

OK so my 96 Honda Civic LX 4door is a POS. It's on it's last leg. I can either spend money and get a new engine and tranny, fix the body damage that my father in-law caused while letting him drive it for a year. or I can buy a new Kia forte.

Opinions on the KIA Forte are welcome.

I say rebuild or get the new motor and trans and do the body work it's a lot cheaper then a monthly payment and increased insurance payments for 3 or 4 years in the long run, just what I would do

Just purchased a 2010 Forte for my wife.

Love it, makes me hate driving older cars.

Makes me feel good she's safe with all those air bags.

10 year warranty, how can you beat that ?

Blue tooth, satellite radio, 4 disc standard,

there's even airbags in the seats ...

Sound system is awesome, if you like music.

Insurance went down when we added it...

KIA actually means "rise out of korea".

but as I stated, built in Colorado by Americans.

The new Forte is rebuilt completely from the ground up. It's not based on the spectra and doesn't share any parts with it.

Hyundai/Kia is a company that started from square one. No major companies to purchase it (not like they would sell out anyways). So in the beginning they made cheap cars with cheap parts and awesome warranties.

Not everything is built perfectly the first time.

I love my wife's car and enjoy it's 43 miles to the gallon.

We have the "economy" package FYI .. 5 speed auto, instead of 4 speed, aero kit, silica tires (free 4 sets of tires included also), and electric power steering instead of a pump on the motor to rob HP.

I'd say just either fix what you got, or get another used one. No reason for new debt/monthly payments. You could get another Civic, like an 02, or so for fairly cheap (under $6000). 40 MPG isn't bad either.

IMO, If I go foriegn, I have to buy it used, since most new cars (in general) are poorly built, too much plastic...

Wish I could argue with you better. I'm at work and my wife's Manual is at home.

They also have a Georgia plant that is building the all new Sorento.

I agree since A LOT of them were and ARE built in South Korea and China, since the new 2010 model year they are expanding into North America.

Yeah, it may be assembled in America, but most are built with Korean parts, and until they move their corporate HQ here to the states, the money still leaves here when you buy one.

Ever want to wake up and not worry about your car starting? Breaking down?

Even if it does, your whole power train is covered for 10 years .... your sound system even has a 3 year warranty.

Regional HQ, possibly called divisional HQ. They also have one in Europe.

This being said, I like Hyundai's better.

I also like the 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty on Hyundai's and Kia's.

IMO, the South Koreans don't make bad cars.

Hyundai is coming out with some better vehicles.

I'm buying the new Kia Borrego in a year or so, it's actually on a truck chassis 7500# towing.

Comes with optional diesel from Hyundai's lineup. Every power options in the book, front and REAR heated AND AIR CONDITIONED seats. DVD, and so on ....... 3 rows.

We kinda like the sorrento because it's about 10 grand cheaper than the Borrego.

Not interested in a cross over though, I'm not that old yet.

Kidding?? you know all cars break down right???? and it royaly sucks even with a warranty

that KIA will be in the shop ALOT and I bet theyll get ya with the fine print. By all means like what you got i mean Im just sayin from experience. My parents got the van sister a car ( I told them not too, and trust me they wish they listend). Both sound like death, terible nocking, poor interior with alot of cosmetic issues, seats even have recalls, Brakes Brakes Brakes have non fixable issues Dealership tells oh its normal to have a death vibration while braking ?? lol i wish I were showing this thread to my mom she would add in more stuff im forgeting. I just dont trust them other than safty. Oh but wait no I dont even trust them with that as my sister got in an accident going over 50MPH and hit someone at a dead stop not one of the millions of airbags they put in the POS went off. I DO NOT TRUST KIA and for very valid reasons
