I wish I could afford two rigs.. Its very unique and military grade.. It has independent Portal axles versus solid Portal axles like the Unimog.. Great fire-road/mud/sand truck but not on the tough boulder/rock trails.. See ya..

I always wanted one of those....

From when I FIRST saw them when they were new - it was a small blurb in Popular Science or something like that (early 80s)...

Yeah - even back THEN I wanted al Alvis Stalwart...

So tempting, but I don't think my 4runner is built enough to trade yet.

I just searched Pinzgauer and found that page, we all know we have a real 4x4.

I had a TJ before and loved it, but the space was tight.. Hmmm, Pinz, 4-runner or Cherokee? So I chose the Pinz because of a friend.. I've found the rig is great on fire-roads/sand/mud/baja/small rocks and washboard roads feel like a highway.. Its not good on big rocks with drops because of sitting on the front axle and I miss doing the big rocks.. The rig is very easy to work on and reliable(military grade) and is perfect to hold lots of gear (1 ton capacity).. It has dual carbs and multiple oil pumps so it won't get starved on steep angles.. So, this rig will work for anything up to the John Bull run.. Questions please call..

If yours was a 712 and not a 710 I would probably try to find a 4runner to trade with you the Pinz is a cool, unique wheeler... I would love a 712 with the commo shack on the back to turn into a camper and piss off my wife

One problem with the 712 (6x6) is highway speeds are like a Unimog.. In the mid 50's.. Hills are also a big problem with the 712.. It does have the third axle to help counter the front weight, but more to maintain..

x2 - have a good mog friend who has burned out 3 unimog tranny's in 3 years because the max speed is 55....

Portal axles are intersting but hate to say it - not all that if you have a strong yota axle or a full width...

TTT for ya though! I can see why ya want to trade!
