I bought a 86 IFS 4Runner. The front control arm bushing are so shot to heck that the local shop will not do a front end alignment until I replace them. Does anyone know where I can find some bushing? I was hoping to find the stiffest ones available like polyurethane or something if it is available so I do not have to buy factory ones. Or if someone knows where to find some affordable after market control arms with bushing that are not too much $$ then that would be great too.

I am a noob to the site and have no idea where to get started. All I know is that I want to get back on the trails ASAP. Thank you everyone for your help. Please someone PM where I can get these bushings. Thanks again!

 

All these views and not one suggestion? Oh well. I have a few leads and wondering which bushing is the better and stiffer one between the two to use: Polygraphite and Polyurethane

Yes, they are part numbers. I believe you need part numbers 8.3104 (upper bushings) and 8.3105 (lower bushings). You can do a search on google for "energy suspension 8.3104". You'll come up with a couple of places online to order them.
I went to my local performance/speed shop with part numbers off of the ES website and had them order the parts. I got the parts the next day. I didn't want to order the parts online because I didn't know any of the companies listed, so I spent my money locally.

 

Thats great info and I really appreciate it bud. I have bought polyurethane bushings from them before for Honda related builds over the years. I am still looking for a good company that I might be able to just buy control arms from. I have seen these awesome Billet Control Arms offered by www.iconvehicledynamics.com but they do not make them for my 86 4Runner.

And I have seen this full front end suspension kit with longer axles and 2" wider control arms offered by www.downeyoff-road.com but I just can not justify paying $2562.00 for something like this.


So does anyone know where to get some sweet billet or any nice after market control arms for the first generation 4Runner's?

 

I still have not found affordable performance after market IFS components. So I have decided to replace most of it with OEM parts until I can get something better. The good news is that I have received the Energy Suspension Polygraphite upper control arm bushings and the lowers are on the way. I also ordered new inner and outer tie rods, and tie rod sleeves. Along with these parts I ordered all upper and lower ball joints, pitman arm, idle arm, all four bump stops, and drop stops. All these parts should be here in the next day or two. I have also ordered new 33" Tires. Today I went out and paid $900 for a new air compressor and air tools, plus a bunch of other related tool goodies for all this. I am sure I will break even doing the work myself+tools, considering what a shop will charge to do all the work in labor. The only thing I have left to figure out is what 4" lift suspension I will use for the front since these ones are well ready to be replaced. Any one have any recommendations for the front 4" lift shocks?

Thanks guys. I actually did all the work myself and I need to post up some picks. I sand blasted every part and air sprayed every parts to a perfect finish. I also replaces just about every moving part and bushing on the truck now. I had the whole truck torn down to bolts and washer for just over a month and now it is all done. I am just waiting for my custom hydraulic bump stop to show up then I can hit the trails again. I have replaced everything, even all the tie rods, ball joints, and even all new brakes and tires etc. Pics coming soon
