I think I'm ready to sell my 1st gen 4Runner. I've put a good bit of work into it to get it to it's current condition, and I just don't have the time I need to devote to this truck anymore. Here is the info on it. Moderators please let me know where I need to send the VIN#.

228,000 miles

5 spd 4x4 (4 wheel drive still works)

A/C (the R12 system and it still works.)

Work by previous owner
-new starter
-new radiator
-timing chain (It appeared to be in good shape when I did the head job.)

Work I have done:
**EDIT** - new alternator

- new water pump - I thought the radiator fluid leak I was seeing was due to a bad gasket on the water pump, so I replaced both the water pump and gasket. Turns out that was not the problem, it was the head gasket and the fact that the head bolts where not torqued to spec by the previous owner.

- new head gasket - In January the head gasket blew. I pulled the head and sent it to a machine shop to have it pressure checked and resurfaced. It passed the pressure check with no problems. I used OEM Toyota gaskets, and new head bolts. At the same time I also replaced the thermostat and installed a newer water temp sensor. This repair solved the radiator fluid leak mentioned above.

- new spark plugs, distributor cap, and rotor button - done at same time as head job.

-new battery

What needs to be done:
-timing needs to be adjusted. After I replaced the head gasket I adjusted the timing by ear. The truck runs strong with the current setting, but it can't hurt to have it set correctly.

-TPS (throttle positioning sensor) needs to be adjusted or replaced. The ECU is throwing a TPS code. This problem can be fixed by replacing or adjusting the TPS.

-Heater Core needs to be replaced. Last weekend the heater core decided to break. It shouldn't be a difficult fix. You just have to remove the dashboard to get to it. **EDIT** Heater core is NOT bad. It turns out the hose clamp on one of the heater hoses going into the firewall was loose. I tightened the clamp and radiator fluid leak that made me think it was the heater core went away.

-New tires. The rubber on the truck is getting old and should probably be replaced soon. Also, the rear driver's side tire will need a new valve stem because it has a slow leak. **EDIT** The bad valve stem has been replaced.

There is no rust on the body of the frame.

 

Details updated. Heater core is good, and the bad valve stem has been replaced.
