Post FS: 91 4 Runner, w/ SAS

I have a 1991 Toyota 4 runner, SR5 V6, 5 speed. It is maroon in color, with grey interior. There is roughly 231k miles on the odo. The motor is on it's last leg. I suspect the head gaskets.

This was to be a project rig. The front SAS is almost complete. It just needs shock mounts welded in, and it will be complete. The rear has been converted to leaf springs as well. It also needs the shock mounts finished. The front and rear axles are from a 83' Toyota as well. I am asking $2100 OBO. If there is any interest in the whole thing ( I will not part) let me know. I can obtain pictures, and more detail if needed. I am located in Utah. It does have a clean title as well.

I wont deliver, but I will work with a shipping company.

Sorry the pictures were delayed. I fight fires, and happened to be away on assignment for the past week.

Here is the 4runner with 37" tires on it. These are NOT included.

Here it is as it sits right now.

New shocks waiting to go on.

It has all new brakes, wheel bearings, rotors, calipers, pads, etc. Stock sized tires are in great shape. With a charge of the battery, it still starts up. It has stock gearing, 4.56's I believe. I put the vin tag up, so someone can look that up if they want. All the springs, axles, etc, came from a 83' toyota. All the work was done by a mechanic at a local shop here in town.

here is a quick rundown on the 4 runner, and things that could be a issue,
that I am aware of.

My wife drove the 4 Runner for a good 35k miles, to and from work, with no
problems. I drove it to work for the last 2k miles or so, when the motor
started to get worse, as my commute was much shorter. When I started to look into rebuilding the motor, the guy who did the SAS work, said it would be
roughly the same price to SAS it, and put a V8 in. Not knowing much about
toyata's I decided to go with it. He has quite a few toyota's, rangingg from
land cruisers, to 4 runners, to pickups. So I figured he knew what he was
talking about. Unfortunatly, I got tired of waiting on him. All the work was
done after hours at his shop, and seemed to take forever. I work out of state
during the summer, so I had to park it while I left, and thats where it sits
now. Given the chance to do it over, I would have just rebuilt the motor. There was nothing major wrong with anything on the truck, except the motor. Plus my wife really enjoyed driving it.

The rear reverse lights tend to only work half the time. I think the switch is
either going bad, or a poor connection somewhere. The rear window goes up and down slowly, but it still seals up fine. I gather this is a common problem with 4 runners. All the windows roll up and down like they should, and the power door locks all work. No problems there. Sunroof works fine, and has no leaks . The interior is in very good shape. just a little dirty. No cracks on the dash, plastic, etc. The drivers side seat has a minor "wear" tear roughly 3-4" right on the lumbar support. Other than that, all the seats are in great shape. The windshield has no cracks, and a few rock chips that have been repaired. All electrical parts work fine. Wipers, horn, lights, blinkers, etc. There is no
radio however, and the stereo harness is uncut. Even the AC was pretty cold, as of last summer. The motor doesnt even leak any oil. However, the power steering pump does leak. It needed to be topped off, every few weeks. Last of
all, the exhaust from about the catalytic convertor back, is pretty rusted. It
has a pretty good leak right after the resonator. It looks to me like it is the
stock exhaust. The clutch is also on its last leg. The transmission, and
transfer case have no problems. The tranny shifts flawlesly, and has zero
grinds, or slips.

The paint and body is in overall good condition. There are little rock chips in
the paint across the front of the hood, and down along the rocker panels on
both sides. There is a patch of rust on the front passenger side fender, down
low where the mud flap goes. There is also some rust on the rear panel, behind the side of the bumper.

The rig still drives. When I was two weekends ago, I charged the battery up,
and drove it around for a few miles. But that is pretty much the extent of
where I would drive it to.

Ok, will do.

Drive shaft is in the back. Rust issue was talked about a few posts ago. 4x4 is great, as is the trans and t case.

Roughly $2900 through the shop to do the rebuild.
