I have a TT LIMITED SLIP (part number: 911A342) out of my front diff for sale. This will fit the 3rd gen 7.5" as well as the older 7.5".

I have had the unit installed for about 2 years. However, I have manual hubs. Therefore, the unit itself has very few miles on it. I approximate 200-300 miles of wheeling.

This is not a lunch box locker, it replaces your carrier. You will need an install kit and to have your gears set up to install this unit.

I am asking $250 for the unit. These sell for new for about $375.

And di you ever use this on snow/ice? What are the mannerisims like?

 

I replaced it with an ARB RD-90. The ARB will enable me to go farther and attempt more difficult obstacles.

The TT was great for moderate to difficult trails. I actually did a lot of difficult trails with it. I did use it in the snow and it worked great. To me it's only limitation is when you lift a tire it does not always lock up the opposite tire.

If you are not in the habit of lifting tires while wheeling it will work flawlessly to provide additional traction.

Bump for a nice traction aiding device! This would be great for someone who needs more traction but doesn't want to spend the money on a full on selectable front locker, these also work well in SNOW.

Umm...I think you're jumping the gun a little. From what I see it is still available.

 

I know the backlash on the gears is the biggest factor, but, do these things make any noise that anyone can notice like on the highway, I know some cheaper lockers and LS units do that and was curious if anyone noticed it with these TT units.

 

how would this setup work on ADD? any harm in it? and with regards to snow performance...does it make driving in it sketchy? meaning does it tend to push alot during corners? would you consider this a better route than a lockrite?

and it being an LSD...any specific maintenance required for it? im guessing that since you've got manual hubs..its not so much an issue? maybe this can be my early xmas present...

I can only tell you from my experience...

I don't know about ADD. It did not make driving in snow sketchy to me. I would consider this a much better route than a lockrite for moderate wheeling and definately if you drive on the street in snowy conditions.

No additional maintenance, it's gear driven not clutch driven like other units.

Yes, with Manual Hubs it was only turning when I wanted it to.

 

There is no additional maintenance or additives that need to be used...just 'ol 75-90W gear oil.

Driving in the snow is different with the TT, it wants to follow deep ruts and drifts so you need to be more aware of your steering corrections, I use the throttle to help steer. Punch the pedal to get moving and then ease off to turn.
Overall traction is smooth and predictable. Better than having it open and much more forgiving than a Lunchbox locker. I'd definetly reccommend it for the front opposed to the LockRite. If you can't swing an ARB for the front I think for all around driveability the TT is the way to go.
No harm to ADD, only one side of the TT is being driven at a time when in 2WD, you can feel a very slight tug in the steering wheel in some situations.

I run a TT in the front and it definitely causes some understeer when the hubs are locked and its in 2WD. I would not run a TT without manual hubs.

 

gaah..so many differing opinions. thanks for the input SLC & rustbucket. however, with ADD as only the DS is actually 'connected' to the diff in 2WD, there wouldnt be any issues no? maybe just a slight pull? im still trying to wrap my head around how traction device and ADD would work together.

john..i take it you dont have manual hubs w/ your TT setup? hows the snow driving in 2WD? is the pull predictable or dangerous in any way?

jim..im about || close to grabbing this off you if its still available. just trying to price out the cost of a regear which already has me too bad it isnt one of those things a shadetree mechanic can handle...
