I thought that the later "laser blocks" could be machined to meet turbo specs
-- drill the oil drain hole and tap for two studs

Where do I look up additional info. for machining non-turbo blocks to make it compatible and will a hairline crack on the exhaust manifold make a difference? If so, who has one and how much (block and manifold) to 86556. I'd like to keep it turbo-ish, otherwise reg. 22RE. Thanks for your knowledge.
Bump. My truck is still sitting (dead) in the garage and I really need to get this thing fixed - It has the factory 22 TRE setup in it.
As far as using a 22RE block, I don't know about drilling and tapping oil lines for the turbo. I'm guessing the water lines from the turbo would just bolt on to the RE block?
My OEM Turbo block could be re-sleeved since only the #1 cylinder has damage to it. I think the stock CT-20 started to disintegrate and a piece of metal went through the intake tract and put a crack in the #1 piston. I put the TEC kit on it and it didn't run any better but I got my foot into it and heard a pop. Turns out I blew a small piece of the #1 piston out and it gouged the cylinder wall - the blow by pressure was causing oil to come out the breather on the valve cover
The truck is in Springfield, Missouri (65714) and I'm back and forth from there to Los Angeles for work

Still have my short block 22RTE. Been sitting in my garage 2 or so years now. Let me know if you are interested. Also have a complete engine that could use a rebuild.

I have to double check, but the truck the engine came out of had 220k on it, but a new rebuilt engine was put in at 120k so I think there are 100k on the block. I have the paperwork. It may be less. No more than 100k though. It has been sitting a few years now.
The other engine I have is complete and has 290k on it. I can strip it down to the block if you like.
$100 and shipping for either. How much will FED EX freight charge? $100 and shipping barely makes it worth my time getting it on a palate and getting it over to fedex. It will probably need to be freighted to the fed ex office near you.
