Yeah it takes about 30 seconds to unscrew the speedometer cable from the transfercase.

That truck is almost TOO gorgeous to believe that it's all stock and nothing's been refinished or anything like that. But it would sell if you had the price set lower!

EDIT: Notice the shape of the sticker on the underside of the hood.....I don't know if you can get replacements though. Also look at the side of the pic of the gauges. There looks to be a tear/crack in the dash or carpet covering it. But if you look at what's underneath, that padding stuff looks like a healthy yellow instead of a dryrotted looking yellow.

Looks more like the dash cover is torn, not the dash itself. Great looking truck.

It's not $16k solid, its OBO. Someone is gonna want this truck, please make me an offer if interested. No the odometer has not been disconnected. As I stated before a company vehicle was utilized a majority of the time. It was driven enough to keep the fluids and everything in good shape. If the speedo was disconnected you wouldn't maintain the cleanliness and brand new look. It would show signs of wear and tear.

I always wondered if there were people out there who bought new cars to hide away so that they'd be very unique someday. I guess there is atleast one. Very nice truck I don't believe any of odometer pulling on that truck. Good Luck with the Sale!

What's the story behind this truck? Are you the original owner? Why does it have so low of miles? It's not like it was being "collected" or was it?

If I had an extra 16 grand I'd buy this and park it beside my black '88 4x4 SR5. I purchased my truck new in March of '88 and only put 25000 miles on it since. It has never seen snow and only limited amts of rain since new. I get it out and drive every now and again just to keep the gaskets from drying out. It sits besides my grandfather's '90 4cyl 4x4 4runner that only has 51000 miles on it. I also know of a '86 std 4x4 w/less than 6000 miles on it. In my opinion, trucks like these are already becoming collectiable just like the vintage Land Cruisers. Mosy early to mid '80's trucks here in the NE part of the country have rusted away or been drivin straight into the ground.

That is an amazing vehicle. There is a buyer out there for it. Good luck with your sale. Peterson's should buy it for their Museum.

Yes, am the original owner. The reason the miles are so low is because a company vehicle was utilized a majority of the time. It was driven enough to keep the gaskets fresh and the fluids flowing. The plan wasn't to keep it a collector truck, it just ended up being that way because like anyone would... abuse the company vehicle... right?

I owned a very similar '88. It was was the truck that got me into Toy 4x4's. This looks like an absolutely beautiful truck. Thanks for the pics. Curious, what's the story with the lack of decals on this one?

Nice truck! Don't listen to those other guys. How many practically new '88 Toyota Trucks can you find? You might even want to contact Toyota to see if they'd be interested.

But I will say, if it were an '86 (that's the last year of SA, right?) and 22RE, you'd probably get double what you're asking for!

Anyway, good luck with the sale and hope it goes to an appreciative owner.
