I'm going to be ordering some wheels and tires this weekend for the yota. I have an 87 pickup, stock everything. I'm going to be running a 31x10.5x15 tire, and geting cragar soft 8 wheels. I'm going to get the wheels in either a 15x7 or 15x8, not sure which will fit the tires better.

I'm not sure what offset to get. I want to have the tires stick out from the fenders by like 1 inch or so. What do you recommend? 7 or 8 inch wide wheel and what offset? If you have pictures of offset options that would be awesome

You want those bad boys to stick out? 10 inch wide wheel with 45mm offset. If you get 8 wide and they don't stick out like you want you'll have to run diabetes spacers. I'd say go ahead and get the 10. It's like when people lift a truck 4" and wish they had went 6"

Just my .02

lol heck no. I'm talking very minimal "poke" similar to how the wheels are that came on my truck. I have no idea what the backspacing is and i haven't seen them anywhere (not that i looked very hard)

I'm at work so i just grabbed a random picture of my truck that was already online to get an idea of what i'm talking about

That's about how much "poke" i'm looking to have

These are those wheels I already have from the side view if someone already knows what the offset or "backspacing" of these wheels are

did you ever figure out what you were going to go with?

i dont want to jack your thread but ive got a decision to make about some us wheel brand green D windows.

I can get em from summit but only have 2 choices:
4" backspace/-13 mm offset
or
4.75" backspace/+6 mm offset.

like you, i plan on running 31x10.5x15, but am 99% sure im sticking with 15x8" wheels.

i have completely stock suspension etc..

Yes. I did figure it out. I found a youtube video about measuring backspacing and measured the current wheels. I came up with 3.5" backspacing. I ordered 15x7 cragar soft 8's with the same backspacing. Something is slightly different through since they only stick out about 1/4" from the fender when the old ones were probably almost a full inch. They still look alright and this is the lowest offset I could get the wheels in anyway. I could always get a wheel spacer later if I want to match the old look

The 15 x 8 's would have given you that inch you wanted for sure but wheel 1/2" wheel spacers will do the trick just fine too

  • Vehicle: 1979 3 Gen N30 4x4 Deluxe 20R
  • Brand/Style: unknown, no makers mark anywhere
  • Material: Steel
  • Size: 15x9 (I think - measured it myself)
  • Lug Pattern: 6x5.5” (140mm)
  • Offset: -1.5” (38mm)
  • Backspacing: 3.5” (89mm)
  • Center Bore: 4.25” (110mm)
  • Spacers: none
  • Tires: 31x10.5R15
  • Clearance Issues: none
  • Technical Notes: 2” lift
I have 4 running (kinda split-rim style) wheels of anonymous make - but I reckon they look pretty good on Rusty Bob. Problem is I have the spare on a “trailer” rim and I want to know if I need to track down a steel wheel that will carry the load/speed better? Or am I ok with it? But finding a replacement for this configuration (above) is wearing me out... Seriously I’ve looked everywhere! HELP!
